The NRL today announced that Clapton would perform at this year's grand final. Following the outstanding success of Tina Turner's Simply The Best anthem Todd Greenberg said that Clapton offered an updated anthem to get the crowd and clubs fired up.

He will obviously include Layla but undoubtedly the finale will be Cocaine

It seems that the modern day Aussie football player...NRL, AFL mainly, are meatheads and fark wits wits that will never learn, too much money at a young age and too much time on their hands.

Apparently they are all very sorry and upset about what has happened, especially Keogh..."I'm bitterly disappointed"

Pfft, sorry, upset and disappointed they got caught!

Having seen Clapton a few times over the journey, it is going to be interesting to see how he goes at the NRL Grand Final (and how he's received).

As he's aged, he's slowly starting to pass on the responsibility of playing parts of his more intricate (and well known) solo's onto the other guitarist in his band, which has been slightly disappointing I reckon. (I think the last time I saw him live, was in '09).

Having said that, hopefully he'll do it all this time around, and show just how bloody brilliant he can be, cause watching him make it look effortless is just amazing.

Looking forward to seeing him already ... :D

PS. Have the AFL signed Casey Donovan or perhaps Shannon Knobhead for the AFL Grand final entertainment, or can they get Zig and Zag to make a comeback?

He's got nerve damage in his fingers. I think that's the reason why he'd be struggling to play a lot of those parts.

There's no doubt he can play and he did some spectacular work with The Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers and Cream but the rest of his stuff leaves me cold.. Give me a Peter Green, Mick Taylor or Jeff Beck (to name just three) any day....sorry threadjack.
