Its very difficult for non specialised maybe even non golfing people to try and compete with the majors OEM's.
The golf ball market is the most difficult segment to succeed in ,,,, Foremost (Forte) have already tried once in
Australia and failed, even with some ok balls but mainly designs that had the incorrect specs for this market,,,,
What I see here is a marketing company approach to being a golf company and golfers are a very tough sell.
They need to trust you / trust your ideas / trust your products and then want to play your product but at what price?
Social media alone will not bring them a level of sales that will make all this effort worthwhile from my humble experience.
I think you 2 compete with each other. That's why you said that.
So you're all about having a ball that will last but play a ProV which goes grey in 4 holes. Ok.
Anyway my point is I don't think there is value for money in Forté or Vision. Other than the SS2 I don't think any of them produce spin.
I play most of my golf at Palm Meadows which has soft receptive greens and yes I'm a shit golfer but I get Chromesoft to stop without a problem but have never seen that in a vision. I play regularly with a 5 capper and he calls them Vision No Spins.
I just find it funny when this whole site comes out to protect Vision and sucks up to Boz. When there is another company doing something similar and everyone bags the crap out of them.
Lets put some of these comments in perspective.
Boz has been a big supporter of this site for years. HE has many loyal supporters on ISG as he has taken the time needed to build strong relationships (loyalty) with many members on here myself included. Boz has his own skin in the game with VISION Balls and is pretty damn knowledgeable about golf balls in general.
I dont see him bagging the forte ball at all but more making some general commentary about how tough it is to crack a market and how finicky the consumer can be with a golf ball.
Am I defending him, to a small degree but more just giving him a little respect for all he has shown to many members here as well as our state and national events.
No other brand has offered this type of support to ISG year after year.
Not everyone here likes his ball and that is fine, the feedback he receives actually helps him keep improving what he is trying to make. Players on here are very different skills so of course there will be differences in opinion same as we have with which clubs to use.
I dont see forte doing the same marketing approach at the moment here in Aus , they are trying a more direct marketing approach via social media based on a giveaway/discount approach. Good for them, time will tell if it works. Maybe its been a good idea for them to getting the brand reintroduced in market and spoken about? In my experience giveaways and discounting will only get you so far, the ball still has to perform. People seeking discounts will not be loyal they will seek/wait for the next deal.
