New thread for Tassie trip as holding Nationals there wont get the support we need.

 

Ive brought over the interested list and starting a new discussion on heading over for either 2day or 4 day outing. Let me know if you still in or not. If 2 or 4 days.

 

Also what time of year would work best?

Wonder if we can find some weather stats that will indicate a best timing

Friend of mine went and the wind was so hard that they had fans going on the greens to try and clear the bunker sand that blew on them

Throughout the month of March daytime temperatures will generally reach highs of around 21°C that's about 70°F. At night the average minimum temperature drops down to around 9°C, that's 49°F.

Precipitation

The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 24 mm, that's 1 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 6 days of the month.

Wind

The average daily wind speed in March has been around 14 km/h, that’s the equivalent to about 9 mph, or 7 knots. In recent years the maximum sustained wind speed has reached 56 km/h, that’s the equivalent of around 35 mph, or 30 knots.

 

April,

Temperature

Throughout the month of April daytime temperatures will generally reach highs of around 17°C that's about 63°F. At night the average minimum temperature drops down to around 6°C, that's 44°F.

Precipitation

The average monthly amount of precipitation has been recorded at around 30 mm, that's 1 inches. Throughout the month you can expect to see rain or drizzle falling on 8 days of the month.

Wind

The average daily wind speed in April has been around 13 km/h, that’s the equivalent to about 8 mph, or 7 knots. In recent years the maximum sustained wind speed has reached 57 km/h, that’s the equivalent of around 36 mph, or 31 knots.

 

 

Apparently King Island isn't that much different.  A bit cooler and the winds are a bit stronger but not by much on average.  It would however be out luck to pick the days that 70 knot gales are blowing. :D

Considering that is where Mads and I both live return flights back in to GC will likely be very expensive during the games.

Also I live here. I'm going to go to some events. They are well priced. Just because you're jaded old khunts doesn't mean others can't enjoy things.
