I've had another couple of short range sessions, small buckets, but then wandered around 9 holes instead ...

Managed to get the Driver nice and straight, with OK length, but not to where I want it to be ... set up some good approach shots and the first day, managed to stuff up every one of them.

Next trip, really ensured plenty of club and not over hitting and managed to go Par, Par, Par.

It's a short course the 'ole Royal Chinderah. I played from the 11th onwards each time to get away from the bunched up groups.

Driver was consistent both days, getting 215 into a two club head wind, so, happy with that at this stage.

Trialing different golf balls and the have lost the feel around the green. Putting and chipping distance control was off.

My swing speed is a Supersonic Blur !

OK, let me explain.

I've been using a variety of different golf balls lately, looking for a good fit and feel around the greens. As part of the process, I've been looking at online reviews and commentary. I came across 'Martin Hopely' and his reviews of various things, including many golf balls.

I came across this review for the Srixon Ultisoft: http://www.golfalot....eview-3538.aspx

And read this:

" ... for sub-90mph swings rather than my supersonic blur ... "

Supersonic Blur, hey?

Hmmm.

All his golf ball tests data have his swing speed at around the 96 - 97 mph with an odd one, very odd one, at 100 mph

Sheesh.

That's what my Driver speed comes in at ...

Wouldn't get too caught up on Swing Speed.

Control and accuracy would rate higher on my priority list.

Just out of curiosity (and you may have posted this earlier) what are the typical distances you hit for each club in your bag?

The R11s must be hot irons. They're not SGI though so I don't know why they are so long.

But I hit my 60 degree - Cleveland RTX 3 blade style - 90-95 so I do hit my irons longish - there's no help in that club

I reckon if you can find out who does the groups for the SEQ days, he may well get you and I together.

Shame I'll be on Fraser, Palm Meadows was a golden opportunity!

Fraser survived ... some golf since.

Most important news, had a putter lesson and fitting today.

Am now the owner of one of these little beasts:

Quietly chuffed. Felt SO very nice.

Now, if only I can hit the GIR to set up the birdie putt.
