Did anyone hear about this?

I didnt see any of his play and the video is hard to tell?

A former Australian professional golfer has accused American amateur Stewart Hagestad of cheating his way through the 2017 US Masters.

Golfer turned broadcaster, Mark Allen, questioned whether Hagestad should have received the honour as best-placed amateur in the Mastersevent, suggesting the American flouted the rules about controlling a long putter with his upper body.

Yeah the video doesn't really show whether or not he did have it anchored.

This is where the biggest problem is with this rule. They should of limited the putter to a certain length (whatever the length is that they can still use to brace against forearm) and the anchoring rule.

Only doing one half has left to big a grey area for these type of situations.

If that doesn't count as anchored I don't know what would. Does it have to be rammed into the chest to count?

I watched Hagestad and Langer....looks like anchoring to me.

Just ban putters over 40"........not hard to do.

Adam Scott has managed to adapt...they're supposed to be professionals ffs

Too hard to tell from that video, but then Mark Allen would know, sitting in his lounge room 10,000 miles away.

Was Mark Allen the guy who emailed the LPGA last week about Lexi? :o

Those clips don't really show enough detail.

He quite possibly is not anchoring.

It's a useless and pointless rule anyway.

If the powers that be think it's not a good look, then set a CoC for the Tour that putters are limited to 40", or whatever length they want. There are no other rules about how a club is to be swung, except the ball is to be hit by the clubhead and a sweeping or flicking action, as distinct from a hit, is not allowed.

Correction: Also, players are not allowed to stand on or astride their line of putt. = both feet on the same side of the line. But even then, there are permitted exceptions.

I actually don't think he is anchoring based off that video. The few times you can actually see his left hand it looks ok to me - just appears to be close to his chest but you can see some lateral movement of the butt end of the club during one of the shorter putts.

Disclaimer - i was 100% on board with the rule changes regarding these putters so if anything i'd be biased against him. So i'm more than happy to be proven wrong here.
