Capital is on industrial land while Kingswood was sold for housing so I do not think this comparison will work

Kingswood was green-belt and parkland before being rezoned to residential with the cooperation of Council, Government, shopping centre and the clubs involved !

Unlike say Keysborough that had their property rezoned 8 years ago by the then Liberal government and when they got the associated bills objected and had the rezoning, reversed to avoid costs.

The club had officially endorsed Doak to renovate Ocean course

Works to be funded internally so no levy on members

Still needs to go to member vote for approval

Anyone see the plans that came out today? What is up with the back-to-back par 3s at 15 & 16?

I have seen the plans.
Honestly, I'm not familiar enough with The Ocean course to judge on the final layout.

But i will say this.
If Doak says it will be good, it will be crazy

I'm guessing that just suits his routing better, I'm willing to back his design

I have no issue with back to back par 4/5s so not fussed about back to back par 3's

And there for the first and most likely last time, Dorset and The National get mentioned in the same thread.

Isn't Dorset a pitch and putt Mick?

I would have assumed it has several par 3's back to back.

His name is Thomson, will Doak do the work onsite or an associate?

Doak has a team, but their website he normally is on site for I think 20 days. Clayton has been doing a lot of work for Doak here in Australia recently, but he is not part of this project. It will be managed by Doak's US-based team. Construction will start June 2018 and take 4 months. It will then grow in over the summer and be ready to play March 2019. They plan on reusing all existing Ocean turf, hence the lower cost and quick turnaround.
