Heard a rumour that the Ocean Course is being completely redone. Will be done by Tom Doak.

Few good rumors at the moment from there.
A: like you said, Completely rip up the ocean course and re do.
B: Buy Yarra Yarra go into debt and sell off Long Island to cover the debt.

I've actually never been on the premises, just heard a few people talking about it over the last few weeks.

I heard a Board member mention to a group of media later year at Long Island C golf day- so they are looking at some changes.

I thought they would look at the Capital Golf Club if the rumours are true that Jamie Packer is going to sell off the High roller toys from Crown

Just ask TB,

I'll share with you what I know, which isn't that much too be honest.

All members were submitted with a lengthy survey regarding the Ocean course and basically what we do and don't like about it.

On the back of this the decision was made to re do most of the greens and that should be sufficient to keep the members happy, improve the course ranking.

Doak has been in the southern hemisphere a fair bit lately doing works all over the place so Nash got him to come and have a look.

Here is where it gets murky, i believe he submitted a report but basically told them (and I imagine him saying this in third person) 'you dont get Tom Doak to fix someone else's course, you get Tom Doak to build you a new one'

So on the back of this there is supposedly a mythical set of drawings of basically an entire rebuild, every second member at The Nash claims to have seen them but iv never been able to get a hold of them myself.

That's where it stands at the moment, It absolutely will happen, it's just a matter of when and how significant the works end up being. I believe Perrett (designer) still has a lot of say in it.

In regards to buying/ merging with other clubs, honestly we've been linked with every Sandbelt club. The one name that consistently pops up is Woodlands however they probably won't bend to the demands of what the Nash would want in regards to a merger/takeover.

Can't see anything happening with YY because they are about to spend a significant amount of money on re doing there course as well, Doak and OCCM have been shortlisted for that one, so I can't see the Nash wanting that debt/expenditure hanging over their head.

With the current developments my ideal scenario would be, re/do the Ocean greens (cheaper option) go into debt and purchase Capital and sell of LI in 5 years time.

Cheers,

TB

Tiger blood.

Why sell a better course and exchange it for a lesser one?

Good question Mike, unfortunately very few of us know what Capitol is really like, im basing my assumption on the feedback I have heard, which suggests it's a pretty special place

Do you have an opinion on Capitol?

I think the location of Capital may be a bigger draw card over the actual layout?

True, they really want that 'city' course, and LI is not quite city
