I don't see a human footprint partially  superimposed on it  changing anything:  there is still a kangaroo print there and if your ball is in or touching what is recognisably a  kangaroo footprint, I would allow relief without penalty.  If there were doubt as to whether the ball was actually on or touching the roo footprint because its outline was obscured by the human hoof mark, I would not allow relief.

I agree: if the 'roo paw hole is still there to capture a player's ball, he'd get relief.

If the ball is not actually in the 'roo hole, there's no need for any relief.

I was only in 1 bunker at Frogge.
And it was in a human footprint

I was in the fairway bunker on the 3rd....got a drop from a roo foot print....in the green side bunker on the 9th.....human prints all over the place.   Took me 20 minutes to rake their prints as well as my own....Ghetto and Leenn had finished putting out by the time I'd finished.

I wondered why you guys were so slow and holding up the field :(

20 minutes to rake a bunker is 18 minutes to long, it should only take you 2 minutes to rake the entire bunker if it was that bad ?

I'll concede that they are harder to rake than normal because of the brickies sand they've used in them.

Hypothetical Question.

If OB wasn't allowed to post on ISG, how good would that be?

The sand disturbance by a kangaroo can be quite varied. They often lie down and rest in them.
I think the "right thing" to do would probably cop the Human footprint for what it is and just play on. Like a lot of Rules situations you need to see it to have a clear idea of what you are ttrying to rule on.
If it was really important to the player he could invoke Rule 3-3 and play 2 balls and Report to the Committee afterwards. A photo on your phone would be a big help to the Committee.

Of course you really need to see a situation, but I was answering on the basis of what I took to be a reference to a kangaroo paw/hoof/foot print rather than just disturbed sand.

Perhaps this needs to be added over in the "making the rules simpler" thread as a suggestion for OB and for the good of mankind?

If every player is supposed to rake a bunker post use, so that it is pristine for the next player, and they actually did so, then there would never be an issue.

If a footprint occurs and you end up in it ........  then you simply mark and lift the ball, rake the area smooth and then drop the ball where the footprint was previously, and simply play on.

Why should you be penalised with a bad lie, which was caused from an action by someone else who is not doing the right thing, when, had they done the right thing in the first place, it would not have resulted in the aforementioned issue?

As for Robbie, if you play on courses where you follow the great unwashed around, you have to expect that at the moment, until they bring back public executions anyway.

Thing is though bump that originally bunkers were bare sandy areas so yeah - not pristine - suck it up princess

But now they are deeply dug and shaped manufactured areas that require a decent lie to even realistically escape from - not hazards at all in the traditional sense

If they're not to be pristine ....... then take out the etiquette requirement on display at 99% of  clubs, to rake the bunkers. :)

Like the deeply dug and shaped manufactured areas that may also include retaining walls and fountains?
