If you're so uncomfortable maybe best to not add to the thread

It's a public news story that was on the tv so there's nothing being raised here that wasn't already out there

Sorry, didn't realise my opinion was out of place - I'll bow out now. You continue with your public news story.

Gotta say, pretty uncomfortable about the fact that you are all so happy to talk about this in a public forum. Do you think that because he's a little bit famous it's a free for all to offer your judgement? Similarly, if it's because you think you know him a little that makes it ok - would you be happy if it were your news to have it splashed around here? Feels wrong to me. Just sayin...

To me, this topic is just gossip.

If there was a funny story involved, that'd be different.

Bowdo is a public figure and this story has been reported all over the news internationally. Most on here would only wish the best for Bowdo and just hope this is only a "had a few too many and made the mistake of driving" incident that could have ended up way worse than it did. Or is it part of a bigger story that he is dealing with- that is up to him to sort out but i hope its not. That issue has also been publicly reported and Bowdo has spoke about before- so nothing out of place.

I hope its the former and I wish him  well..

Couldn't care less who it is but openly discussing these types of events leads to education, ie just how stupid is drink driving, and hopefully fewer lives lost.

Don't want your news splashed all over the place?  Don't do dangerous illegal stuff.

I am not interested in your blog.

Many of us here are fans of Bowdo for many reasons, including his golf, what he did with the LTB, and because we connect with and sympathise with and respect and admire him with regards to his journey as a man. We all wish him the best and hope like hell that this is an isolated incident, and that he's doing ok.

Some people feel very strongly about drink driving - with good reason - and may be quite disappointed in the big fella for this incident. And they have every right to be. I imagine he is equally disappointed. I also imagine most of them still hope for the best for him. But if they don't or don't really care one way or the other that's their right too.

Personally I know about struggling with your demons and how hard and grinding it can be. And I know how much forgiveness you get and need from those around you as you battle through - and I only wish the best for Bowdo.

I also hope that he never does it again.

I posted the story because Bowdo is one of the pros we follow as a community here. The responses have been often supportive and always respectful - I don't see any evidence of a judgemental free for all. And I know that if someone went to town in any way they'd be shut down.

Well expressed Weetie old bean.  I am sure that it reflects the sentiments of those in the ISG family that have had direct or indirect interaction with Bowdo through his involvement on here with us.  Personally I don't believe anything has been said that is untoward and even the tongue in cheek stuff is mild in comparison to other instances.  I respect Pete's point of view, but also feel that in reality he has taken the whole thing a bit out of context.  Public info is public info and will be and has been discussed in many avenues.  Steve or Rtl as we know him is a part of the ISG family and we wish nothing but good for him in his golfing endeavours and more importantly with his life venture.  The last part seems to be where he may be struggling and he needs to know that we, his extended forum family are here if he needs us.

I wish PJ had of done something stupid to send up a flag... :(
