Unlucky, but lucky... wait till it gets into your knees and lower back, then it's real fun and if 1000mg of Glucosamine with Condroiton per day didn't work I got nuthin.  Done the cortisone thingy as well but the specialist won't refer me anymore because he reckons that after 5 treatments it starts to do more bad than good.

My physio wants me to hold of on cortisone in my shoulder for the same reason

As for the arthritic grips, what have you got to lose???  A few Vets I have played with in general comp swear by them.

Sorry to hear it, Rob.

I have friends with arthritis and they've mostly tried everything.  At most it relieves the symptoms a bit.

You could try an anti inflammatory like curcumin.

Lots of snake oil on the internet - you might find something that works.

I take glucosamine to try and keep my joints working, but I don't have arthritis, yet.

Here's some proper advice. From my specialist who is a professor.

1. There is good evidence that fish oil helps with OA. BUT must be high dose. Get liquid form and drink 12ml a day. Wash it down with juice. Lovely. This did certainly seem to settle a bad flare up down for me. This is good research from NZ but not known by many GPs here.

2. Voltaren Emugel. Buy in supermarket. Rub into joints 2-3 times a day. This anti inflammatory will penetrate into superficial joints like hands and feet and is totally safe.

3. If Panadol not sufficient talk to your GP but if no contraindications change up to a NSAID.

Ive tried a few of the gels, havent one that works yet for me.

As its only recent we are going with Panadol for a bit, then the NSAIDs are on the table

After donug some more research, quite a lot of people moved to the GolfPride CP2 Pro midsize and oversize. Being very soft they help. They also went with light Graphite.
Stoked that i got light graphite and those exact grips when i got my irons back in April!

I'm permanently on 'Mobic' for Anklosing Spondylitis (hip & lower back arthritis). I also take most of the above suggested tabs. Makes it manageable for me if I keep moving ...am told diet plays a part too.

Good Luck Rob, welcome to the club.
