Serena just went one clear of Graf, amazing to think Graf retired at 30 as well.
Serena is 35

We all see Serena as totally dominant, but you forget how amazing Graf was. Retiring at 30 with 22 majors is insane.

Yep, Serena has dominated in a fairly weak era of women's tennis

Graf had to compete against Navratilova, Evert, Seles, Hingis etc,

Also Graf was dominant on every surface.

Serena's record will stand forever but if you put Graf and Serena head to head at all four grand slams, when they weren at their peak, for me Graf wins

This is a more sobering assessment of Serena's achievements when compared to the hyperbole from the commentary team last night. There was a statement made that she may not just be the greatest tennis player (male or female) of all time but maybe the greatest athlete in any sport. That sort of claim is ludicrous.

Serena is merely a dominatrix in a field submissives.

Not in the same sphere as
Nicklaus
Phelps
Messi
McKay
Bolt
Ali
And many others

The way the idiots on Seven carry on you would think that Tennis, women's in particular, was a sport of some significance.

And then through all of Graf's success (and I agree she was amazing) the x-factor of Seles' shortened career and how that could have played out. Either limiting Graf's incredible collection or creating her own.

Women's tennis has produced a number of incredible stars and Sernea deserves mention among them for mine.

I'm looking through the rental listings now. The one time Mouldy gets something right and I bet against him.
