Back to the 1st test....we seem to have lost the ability to clean up the tail.

had 'em on the ropes at 5/81.....let them amass another 161 runs because our bowlers STILL have the "bounce 'em out" mentality.

Just look at how these South African bowlers are bowling to our tail. (and the top end)

So a road will be rolled out for the next test.

A few bats will make some runs and the self delusion will continue.

Australian cricket team may as well be Richmond.

It may be a road but the pink ball swings so I doubt there will be many runs unless South Africa celebrate hard.

Australian Cricket is now in a worse position than it was when Boof took over. This isn't just a slump or lack of application, this is a failure by the bloke in charge to realise that things are broke, and he needs to fix them.

Starting with the top and working your way down, a few heads need to roll.

Uncle Rod needs to go, his nephews suck.

Mark Waugh is a complete failure as a selector as well. Gone

Boof needs to go as well, for I have no doubt his kid will be getting a baggy green in Adelaide and that is how far up their own arses these guys have become.

The Team needs to be picked on ability and form to play Test Cricket. A 50 over squad and a T20 squad also need to be assembled. This will cost Cricket Austrlalai big $$ as the current CEO (who also needs to fk off) doens't want to have more than 30 contracted players on his books.

Every other nation picks their teams on their ability, talent and grunt for the style of game they are playing.

Australia needs to go back to that formula, and pick players for each team, not hope that a core group can play all 3. It doesn't work in Test Cricket.
Smith was the only one who showed any ticker over the past two tests, but his leadership needs to harden the fk up.

Warner needs to learn how to leave the crap outside his stumps, and thump the bad ones, which is what he did when the selectors dumped hom foprm the 50 over side. He is too far up his own arse as well at the moment..

So who do they select for the Adelaide Day/Night Test?

Davey

Ussie

Smithy

Handscomb

Maxy

Agar

Wade

Starc

Hazelwood

Okeefe

Cummins
Pattinson

Victoria wins the shield but has no players worthy of international selection.

The ridiculous archaic selection bias has to go. The blazer brigade are long dead but it seems Bradman lives.

There are players that do not deserve anymore chances.

Marsh bros
Burns
Lyon
Neville
Siddle

Should never play test cricket for Australia again.

Khawaja and Voges are on their last chance.

A new unpopular authoritarian captain needs to be sourced. Where from I have NFI. I just know that it isn't Smith.

We really are back to the days when Border picked up the pieces.

Australia once selected youngsters eg Waugh's, Slater etc, they had a few setbacks and dropped back to Shield cricket but were better Test players in the long run. We once selected for the future not for the now.

We now blood players like Ferguson (31 years old) Mennie (27), previously Voges (33?), Nevill (30)

Leaving the fact Lehmann is the son of the coach he is 24 years old and has a first class average of 48 which makes him one of the most promising younger players in Australia. He also has not been ruined by T20 yet.

Interesing article/comments from smith online tonight, he seems to have sunk the slipper into the selectors about who they are picking for him. Boof seemed to fall in behind his wishes...the next test selection will be the true test

Maybe they need to pick a geniune leg spinner rather then goat too....

When you play for entertainment and not your country this is what you got to expect

warner should never have gotten out so cheaply I first innings - slashing at a wide ball and made the bowler look like a genious

Burns well 1st innings got a great ball  the umpire made the right call there but also could have went in burns favour (not burns fault)

didn't see much of the test to busy playing golf in the arvo day 1  and when I heard it was all out for 85  never took another interest in the game.

the selectors may have it wrong , but until they can define test players to 20/20 players then it is always going to be a problem

batsmen are just slogging at the ball and giving away there wicket cheaply

Test matches are an endurance event it doesn't need to be game over in 1 day

Well that was not pretty at all....

One thinks it is time to find a broom and have a clean out, not just of some players, some of the coaching staff must be nervous as well...

From what I can see only

Smith

Warner

Khawaja

Starc

Hazelwood

are the only players that could be seen as being safe for selection

Time to think outside the square and give some youngsters a go..... because what is being selected at the moment is just not working....

Smith also needs to have a look at how he captains the team on the field. He seems to get stuck on Plan A and not prepared to move from it and the fat lady is warming up.... Be prepared to give someone else a bowl for a couple of overs if the selected bowlers are struggling to make a break through and that includes himself, be prepared to take a risk, sure sometimes it might back fire but there will be times when it will work.....

And note to all those wearing the baggy green..... find some farking heart and pride

This I reckon, is just the result of the almighty $.

Splitting the game into two distinct skill sets was never going to be easy, particularly if you try to get players to play two different styles of games, and switch it on and off like a tap.

Players since they were kids, have had at least 10 years developing their games within a certain style, which will naturally suit one format better than the other.

Australia is just the first country to fail spectacularly, due to trying to combine players into these two distinct and separate games, and it will be interesting to see how other countries deal with it going forward.

Some teams will naturally be better test than limited overs teams, some the other way around, and some may be lucky enough to have players skilled at both ....  for a time.

It's how the successful countries in both formats develop their players, that is where Australia will need to look.

It may take 5 years before a clear picture of who has the best system in place, or it could be that the changes Australia make now, could become the shining example in 5 years time. They could bite the bullet and completely separate the playing lists, or sink a lot into player development.

Either way, I think all countries will at one time of another face this fall from grace, unless they have their act together ahead of time, in terms of the skills and talent development required for playing two separate games.

Pick some players who know how to play a defensive shot.

When none of your batsman can play either a front foot or a back foot defensive shot correctly it must make you wonder about how they have been coached.

Burns has the worst technique of any Australian opener in history. Doesnt play back, doesnt play forward, doesnt get in line. Doesnt do anything.

Khawaja defensively is hopeless.

Smith techniquely isnt great, but what he does is get in line of the ball so he gives himself a chance.

Ferguson should never ever be anywhere near the test team. Someone who has never been able to play the short ball should piss off.

Voges out of form. Maybe father time has caught up.

Not sure why people are ratting on Nevill, can keep and thats the main thing.

Starc is still too inconsistent.

Mennie is a straight replacement for Siddle, i.e. slow and doesnt do anything with the ball. Seriously havent the selectors seen him bowl before?

Hazelwood is only consistent A grader we have.

And Lyon, is either directed to be **** or is stupid.
