My favourite draft story concerns baseballer Mike Piazza.

He retired fairly recently after becoming a perennial All-Star and is now in the Hall of Fame

He got drafted purely as a personal favour. He was taken in the 62nd round, number 1390 overall that year.

See all that stuff inside Homer? That's why your robot wouldn't work.

All drafted many many years ago.  In the current environment, besides father-sons and academy picks who may go late there are very few who go beyond the 2nd round and are enduring stars

Parker and Hannebury were smokies many many years ago.

Jack and Rampe were Sydney boys playing in the local league taken in the Rookie draft as they weren't going to play interstate.

Many, many years ago?!?!
LAWL

And who gives a fark where Jack and Rampe were playing, they were way down the rookie draft list.

You seem to be suggesting that the days of the third round and beyond picks ever becoming decent players is over.

Everybody else would suggest you're talking out your arse again

2010 and 2008 are a long time ago in football terms.  You obviously know nothing about current recruiting methodology.

Rampe was playing VFL in Melbourne and declined offers returning to play crap local football in Sydney.

Jack was never going to leave Sydney hence no better offers.

Obviously there will be a few diamonds outside the first 36 picked but nowhere near the numbers in the Hird years etc.

Why do you think that Swans and GWS quickly established academies ?

Wouldn't be to acquire top 36 players for low draft picks by any chance.  Yet more Sydney friendly rules like COLA.

Bullies have been so lucky with all the male children born to their past champions.  Another way of getting cheap picks.

Thank god SOS poked out 3 champions.

You're correct, I know very little about current recruiting methods.
I'm sure very few people on this forum do.
You don't need to be a part of club inner sanctum to know that in most years gems will emerge from the depths of the draft

Too suggest otherwise is ******* retarded.

McGrath went #1 Mouldy almost called it. Had him top 3. Pity The Bombers got to keep their 1st rd pick but they have probably copped enough.
