If we were playing at Sunshine, the locals would have looked after this detail for us already.

I have struggled with the wiiiiiiide open face shot to be honest - although my plethora of swing changes over the time since that lesson haven't helped as I've lost the feel for the shot

Started to get some form back but for some reason I find harder bunkers easier

Unless I FedEx of course but I can do that from any bunker!

Cheers

I'll keep working on it in the meantime

Finding sand wedge and allowing for a bit of run works ok - but judging it to finish close is very WIP

Maxie is right - bunker shots are not a difficult shot if you know how to play the shot. But most of us have to be shown and practice until we understand the basics.

There are two basic shots - the semi splash shot and the splash shot.

The semi splash shot is played when the sand is firm under the surface. The technique is to slightly open the blade by laying the top of the clubface back. Do this by lowering the grip to the right. The rule is to have the butt of the club pointing at the belly button at address. Therefore the feet are aligned to the left while the leading edge of the SW points at the target. The knees have more bend and the weight is lower.

A key to playing bunker shots is to keep the clubface open from start to finish and maintain a high right shoulder throughout the shot.

Another key is hitting your spot behind the ball at the right depth ensuring that the clubhead has plenty of energy through the sand to explode the ball out. This shot is best played with firm wrist action and a restricted swing.

If you have trouble it may be a LOFT issue. Lack Of F*#@ing Talent.

Thanks for tuning in,

Bunkers, the great mystery to many golfing folk.

What i do is on hard pan or wet bunker shots is i close my left eye, ,this helps with shallow depth perception and works a treat. you will find you will be able to play those wonderful floating spinning shots you see Rory play.

Now on those pesky soft bunker shots.....yes just close your right eye, this tends to alter the eye's depth perception to a deeper mode and helps with those explosion shots.

i know some of you are wondering what if you have a wet fluffy lie, you guessed it............close both eyes and swing hard as fark.

you're welcome
