Thanks. Using Golf Digest for list and hoping to finish by 2018 (before next list released)

Have managed only 6 games overseas, but hoping to do a lot more in the future, especially around the UK.

That's a great goal. Good luck playing the Ellerston Private Packer course.

Through work and travelling to the US to play golf with mates, I have been fortunate to play some of America's best courses.

I have a well connected friend who lives on the Monterey Peninsula and through him I have enjoyed playing the following courses over the years: (Listed in order of preference)

Cypress Point

Pebble Beach

Monterey Peninsula Country Club - Dunes

The Preserve

Spyglass Hill

Tehama

San Juan Oaks

Pasatiempo

Fort Ord -Bayonet

Links At Spanish Bay

Poppy Hills

Pasadera

Quail Lodge

Corral de Tierra

Carmel Valley Ranch

Laguna Seca

Old Del Monte

Rancho Canada

In San Francisco area:

San Francisco Golf Club

Olympic Golf Club - Lake

California Club

TPC Harding Park

Standford University

Wente Vineyards

I could also add a heap of courses in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Minnesota, New York State, Maryland, Philadelphia, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas.

With the exception of the Capital and Ellerston, I've been lucky enough to have played every major course in Australia as well.

One thing I can say for certain, and that is the company is as important as the quality of the course. I played in Ireland at Ballybunion one time with some Texas acehole who ruined the day for everyone. Wanted to plant a sand wedge in his forehead by the end of the round.

That's an impressive list. I am also very impressed with your Aussie major course experience. Good luck with playing Ellerston! I agree with your playing partner comment. I can only imagine what you were experiencing in Ireland, but have a fair idea!

Good golfing!

Cheers

Would prefer to have an average course and great company, than a great course with terrible company (although could just ignore them, but sometimes hard to do).

There's probably 80 odd courses in SE Qld - nearly got through them all. Also most courses in northern NSW and Hunter Valley.
