The long awaited return of the Olympics is upon us and whatever the rights and wrongs of the decision it will be a significant moment for both the sport and the Olympics.

The only problem is channel 7 has the coverage and they are doing a terrible job.
Intended to break 90 this year, not going well.

Concentrating just getting round the course

Watched the entire round last night.

There was a sense of pride for those who stepped up to the tee for their country.

Then rose knocks in a HIO. I enjoyed it. Especially with Marcus and his flying start.

I enjoyed watching it. Definitely a little bit different to the normal tour events.

Seems like plenty blokes from the European tour were playing so the quality is still good.

Nothing in reality, just seemed to have a different feel about it because they are playing for their country.

It would be really good if they had some sort of team event like foursomes or something.

Im hoping they do that for 2020 in Japan.  It would be a much better environment and format for viewing, team camaraderie etc./

I understand people think it only should be amateur which is fine but not sure what coverage would be like internationally on tv and web?

Why did they build a brand new course for it though? Are there no good courses in Rio?

I heard that the course will be turned into a public one when the Olympics are done. It's reclaimed marsh land and the aim was to make golf more accessible for the average punter
