Played the new course yesterday from Blue tee- 6200mtr which was a good test for the amount of times I play each year.

It has some great challenging holes, especially the Par 3's which I was told were toughest holes for Championship the other week.

The greens complexes are pretty crazy with a lot of undulations around so hitting to correct part of the green was important.

It may be tough for the average punter- but best advice is for people to play the tees to your skill level.

Its worth adding to your list now when visiting GC. Couple more years it will be even better condition (though good at moment)

Anyone else play it yet?

13 and 18 are both great holes but 13 is a tough one with OB bunkers on left and water on right 411mt ! I hit big drives on both so played easier.

It would want to play better than the pictures I have seen of the green complexes and surrounds. It looks awful.

But you don't rate any Queensland courses so it was always going to be a poor rating from you

Greens have been cored with small tines in the last few weeks so the greens aren't what you'd like but the new layout is a big step up

Enjoy

Sounds good Weeti. Can't wait to get up there on Sunday arvo and have a look around. Four days of golf at pines is something to look forward to. Cheers.

I played Royal Pines a month ago and it was fabulous. The difference from the original layout is day and night now. Previously you could run the ball up from almost anywhere around the greens with your putter, not anymore. Now you are forced to play a golf shot. The bunkering is now a real challenge and the greens are a test of skill to read and get the pace right too. Can't wait until next year to get back up on the GC and play again at RP and see how the course has bedded in after another year of growth !

Absolutely agree.
In the absence of being able to play RQ just yet, this is without doubt my favourite course.

You can still feel that it used to be a resort course suited to the LPGA, but that was mostly a length thing.

I loved some of the bunkering locations. There are bunkers in real risk/reward locations rather than just dumb spots in genuine landing zones. The first one the green is a perfect example. It's a 235m carry from the whites and it's only a 4m wide bunker, but to carry it is a perfect position.
There were some other green side and green vicinity bunkers that were in great positions.

I would love to go back and play it under tournament conditions.
