As many probably know, I am now single after getting divorced a few years ago.

eHarmony offered free access for five days, so I signed up and completed their questionnaire.  They have now reported back to me the personality findings of that questionnaire.

There's a number of pages and the first is 'agreeableness'.  This is what it said:

You in 5 words
  1. Uncompromising
  2. Critical
  3. Tough
  4. Frank
  5. Discerning
What this says about you
Phil, you typically ask before helping others, "what's in it for me?" When someone needs your help you are very careful before you respond because you believe that taking responsibility for your actions is the only way that people grow and become self-reliant. You prioritise your own wants and needs because you value personal independence for yourself and others. Phil, you really appreciate those who help themselves.

I thought that pretty well described my father, but not me.  Surely not?

The other pages seemed be on the money, so perhaps they're right.

No wonder I'm now divorced.

So, guys, if I come across as an arsehole, I apologise, I can't help it.  I blame my father.  It's in my DNA.

Actually, I don't believe it.  I often help others, knowing full well that I'm unlikely to get anything more than a thanks.  But what would I know?
