Thinking of sponsoring a day at my local club but didn't want it to be the same old Stableford/stroke/4bbb/ambrose format. What are some others that would be a little different and fun?

Foursomes is good but some people don't like only taking every second shot.

Pink ball challenge (not sure if that's the official name but lots of clubs do it)... Groups of four, each person plays single stableford for the regular comp (crowd pleaser). In addition to this, each group is given a single pink (uniquely marked) ball which they must rotate through the group, hole by hole - ie. each hole one player must play the pink ball for the entire hole.
So two comps, the single stableford, and the group score for the pink ball. Once the pink ball is lost, group score is over for the day. Individual prizes for single stableford. Pink ball winnings go to charity. You can increase the takings by allowing groups to purchase extra pink balls at the outset.
Lots of fun, raises a little bit of money for charity, and doesn't drag the resistant few too far away from their comfort zone.

Played a version on Saturday , last week. Stableford points. ! out of 4 scores on 1st hole. @ out of 4 on second. 3 out of 4 on 3rd. then start again at 1 etc till finished. Not as easy to score as you might think although there is a large spread in the completed scores.
Greenkeepers revenge is good for a fun day out too.

One game I heard of was the flag game and everyone is given a small flag and when you have used all your handicap you put the flag in the ground to mark your spot. The aim of the game is who ever flag is the furthest wins. So you could use all your handicap by the 14th hole and put your flag in the ground and you are then finished.
Wouldn't you have quite a few players with handicap left at the end of the 18?

I played a stroke event Saturday, but the side game was split sixes, six points available on each hole. Scored on STABLEFORDE points system. This could make it interesting, however, I do like the sound of the Pink ball game
