So we played Moonah links legends course today and while we were on the practice fairway a helicopter flew in and dropped off 4 people who got scoped. We recognized Matt griffin and one other pro we couldn't put a name to plus 2 older corporate looking blokes, they played 18 2 groups behind us and left in the chopper. So where is this money coming from and is this a frequent occurrence? I mean the spending of golf Australia has been questioned so are they just funding these players to act like politicians, do they make enough to do this on the Australian and Asian tours ? Or is there a "play with a pro pack" where rich people pay for the company of a few professionals to go around a course with them ?
I've heard about US touring pros flying privately onto courses but I found it a bit odd over here.
Is there that much money in Australian golf ?

Probably a couple of multi-national execs visiting their Australian outstation.  Locals will have organised the social aspects of the trip for their superiors.  Yet another way that their local subsidiaries avoid tax.

There are probably a herd of hookers looking after them tonight.

Hope you have a good lawyers Lukos87 and Mouldy. They were the winners of a charity event at X-Golf (Tee Up for Kids, which supports children in state care). The chopper ride, the green fees and Griffin's appearance were all donated.

Good on X-Golf for giving a hefty 40% to the charity.

Good on Matt Griffen, hope his group were playing better than I did that day! I was well off the mark there so apologies to anyone that I offended..

Anyhow it's still a valid question...

Adam Scott flew into Adelaide and played a few rounds around Christmas time. I was told one at Royal Adelaide was with paying customers for top dollar, don't know the amount, but was told "lots". Who knows what "lots" amounts to, but knowing Royal Adeaide members, "lots" would have been " lots"

Is there any issue with this?  If people are willing to play to dollar to play with Adam or any other player then surely they should be able to benefit from it?  Purely benefiting from their skills

Would tax be getting paid on this ? I'm sure if $3000/5000 was getting givin to someone under the table their would be.

I'm getting more at how much are these guys making off sponsors/pro am events Australasian tour through. middle class pros, are they surviving purely off golf or are they in shops and giving lessons with their time off to pay the bills?

Short answer is most tour pros dont earn much at all, something of a catch 22, if you arent concentrating full-time on practice and tournaments then its very hard to get the top results. So assume most of the guys and girls teaching and working pro shops arent competing much except an occasional local tournament or pro am.

In 2014, Griffin earned about 140k on the local tour which was a pretty good year, although nearly half that was from a good result (4th) at Perth International.

Tour earnings are all disclosed/public.
Sponsor deals, lessons, public speaking etc are private and no more my business than anyone else's salary.

And for context, consider someone like Blake McGory who got himself to 14 AustPGA starts in 2014 for about $2700 in earnings. I highly respect anyone who gets out there week after week, more so the guys who arent pulling in big paychecks or with nest eggs from past seasons.
