Joey, banking it off two cushions and then getting the right angle back into the fairway is one of the hardest shots to pull off during a Sunday round, especially with a 3 iron :)

If you would have delayed the fore call by half a second it might have given you a much better shot into the green, a stroke saved is a stroke earned ?

Jon...

Monthly Medal but Stableford due to cored greens. Walked away with 37 points! Was very happy as was probably close too if not my best ball striking day. I had control on 90% of the shots and went where I was aiming or trying to do.

1 Birdie, 5 Pars, 7 Bogeys and 4 D Bogeys and 1 wipe.

I cant be overly critical as the score would of been a lot better had it not been for cored greens. Very different speeds and so on along with not committing to some putts cost me. But to still have 37pts is a good feat in itself on cored greens. But I do think the softer greens saved me on a few holes too with being receptive.

Starting on 10 going Bo Bo P DB P Bi P DB DB then turning with Bo Bo DB P W P Bo Bo Bo.

Things are starting to come together and really happy with my game and trending downwards well. I just need to keep my **** together and just be free during the round. There were a couple of times where frustration could of crept in or put me off but managed to just shrug it off and walk away.

So with the Flag yesterday I am now down to my new PB and lowest Cap of 15.4

While it is great I am starting to head in the right direction, it is now a slightly new world. As a result I will now be off 17 from the Blues at Heidelberg. This will be a first and generally I don't play 5 well being the easiest hole on the course.

The last 2 weeks I have wiped the hole from the fairway, and I believe I am on the hole 45% of par or 45% wipe and then 10% split between bird or bogey\db. So I need to start playing this hole smarter.

For Me :)

Sounds like GREAT progress.

Congratulations.

At the risk of being labelled on here, I'm going to mention Rotella's book again, the golfers mind. It's a summary of his other books and ideas. I'm getting so much from it...

Reading your comments about "new world" links with Rotella's ideas about our self image. It's a bit out there, but, it makes sense to me. You might get something from it... ??

Ebook, Kindle version is only $14. Great value IMHO. Could be worth a read to help you continue on your improvement journey.

Cant remember the place well enough, describe the hole? Where are the danger zones and are you wiping from poor execution or poor shot choices?

Short (290ish from memory) straight slight downhill par 4 with 3 bunkers protecting the front of the elevated green and long grass and garden bed at the back.

Execution of shots is costing me. Off the tee I tend to be ok for the best part. Its the 2nd shot in. I either over think it or get too nonchalant\relaxed on it and stuff it. Need to take the see ball hit ball mentality on it.

It is deadset the easiest hole on the course. I'm not sure why you'd have a problem with it...most of the time even I'm only a PW in...have had SW in on occasion.

I think the only issue with any hole you don't get a shot on is making sure you don't stuff it off the tee. I assume you're taking a 5w or less? Anything approaching 3w or driver would put you in the bunkers, I'd have thought.

Correct Goldy. All in the grey matter.

If you think it's easy, then it is.

If you think it's difficult, then it will always be so.

I don't think its difficult, i just don't play it well as I walk in thinking its the easiest hole on the course and don't "concentrate" thinking easy par or birdie when I really should be just taking it one shot at a time.

This is where I think my problem with the hole is, I believe I have already holed the ball before even teeing off.

Driver puts me short of the bunkers. I can drive the green or close too (Bunkers or gaps in between) with a tail wind. Rest of the time is a 30 or 60m pitch shot in depending on which side of the fairway i finish.

Best drive was pin high but in the trees on the left. 2nd best was gap between right and middle bunker 5m short of green.

If I take 5, 6 or 7i depending on the tee location I am around a 9i or PW in.

Come winter I will be iron off the tee definitely as I don't play the wedges well with those pitch type shots.

So unfortunately I have had to give away the Golf membership this year as a full member (5 6 or 7 day member) and dropped back to a "GolfLink Membership" which is essentially me having to pay for all my rounds and no privileges.

Due to a few circumstances the membership had to go as most understand with young family and different financial reasons etc. So the 7 year goal for 10 was set as I had a very good inkling it was going to happen back then.

Anyways Golf is going on the back burner for the next 12 months but will still play the OOM's and enjoy the opportunities when I do get out to play :)
