The peninsula fascinates me. Superb courses. Lots public. Who plays them?
What about Sandbelt courses?

I know, there would have to be days in winter where some courses don't see a single person.

Sandbelt will survive... Just. Common sense should prevail at some stage for Metro and Huntingdale though.

The Metro Hunt tie up wold make sense if both clubs hadn't spend a bomb on course renos and new clubhouses.  The problem is there is that it would simply become a 36 hole facility and no land would be sold, and so no big cash injection to turn it into a rival for RM.  Might save a few bucks in consolidating the operating costs but probably not enough to warrant doing it.  There needs to be a financial incentive and for that, something has to be sold.  Kingswood was obvious as its such a troublesome piece of land for golf with its odd shape, but others are going to be emotional

True. And it's definitely not on the cards any time soon, however, the operational costs would be significant and it would be more about the proposition it offers to new and existing members. It's a long way from happening though.

As a very happy member of Keysie, it's going to be interesting time.

Like Mouldy said, the bunkers are inconsistant and the practise facilities are minimal.

Haven't teed up through any winters so far and the wettest part of the course is now the bend on the dog leg 6th.

In the 3 and a bit years l've been there, the Rossdale merger would have been nice.

Then there was talk of 6 clubs amalgamating, Keysie, Southern, Spring Valley, Woodlands, Waverley and Riversdale, with one of them sold off to secure the others, with the sold clubs members having access to the other 5.

No a bad option.

Southern need their arse kicked for building that clubhouse, when they should have blown up the front nine and started again, the back nine is brilliant.

Spring Valley is a fantastic course, with a modern clubhouse and brilliant practise facilities. I could practise 50metre bunker shots with confidence l wasn't going to hit any cars, unlike the sphingter clenching experince of a skinnied bunker shot out onto Hutton Rd at Keysies practice bunker!

Woodlands...............Great test of golf with practise facilities to match.

Keysie has got alot of Waverley members of late.....

Haven't played Riversdale......holds the Vic amateur l think.....

I could live with the choice of 5 clubs......

The thought of another links course in Melbourne's southeast is beyond stupid.

Like l said interesting times

Huntingdale will struggle to merge with anyone because its a terrible golf course which no other sandbelt club members would want to play.

There is no way that the silvertails at Metro would merge with the bogans next door.

Gosh I didn't think Huntingdale was seen as so common.   I thought it was a pleasant if not especially amazing course.

It did make me wonder why my club has recip arrangements with all the sandbelt , except Huntingdale.  I thought perhaps they had snubbed us

Interesting to see all this sale and merger activity in Melbourne, and whilst many courses in Sydney have sold pieces of land, as far as i can recall its only Ashlar who actually packed up and moved.

I have always wondered what would happen if golf course land was sold post a rezoning. Do present members split the proceeds?

Agreed that I much prefer the back 9 over the front, but the front 9 isn't 'that' bad is it?

Coming back to the topic at hand, it seems like everything still needs to be signed off by members, so would be interesting to see what the details of this relocation plan is and how many members buy in.
