I am expecting this thread to be the busiest thread on the entire site. The mighty Titans being so heavily supported and all.

Hope we can stay injury free (except for Bird, he can contract Ebola) and we can assume our rightful place at the top of the ladder.

Gold Coast supporters have always been a fickle crowd.

Most football teams (whatever code) struggle in resort cities.

Best teams (supporters) come from the western suburbs, industrial, working class areas.

I've been a supporter since...

and then...

to the next one...

and up until now. Although when they brought on Greg Bird I lost some passion.

I remember one season early 90's I think we only won 2 games. One of those was over the Broncos so that's all that mattered!

Yeh mate, I played juniors (only 1 season) at tweed Heads. Mum couldn't be farked driving me next season so had to play for parkwood sharks. But was always a fan of the giants/gulls/chargers I was on the field after the king's final game.

The titans lost me for a while but I like where they're headed, however, wish they got rid of bird when they had the chance.

I can't remember any Gold Coast team in any sport winning anything.  All I can recall is them folding.  Too many old farts who will not spend any money and too many unemployed bogans who have no money to spend after the normal outlay on booze and drugs.

Leaves you in the minority Matt.  Best you can hope for is them surviving for another year.

Lack of supporter base. Fickle crowds.

AFL won't let the Suns die though...

Forgot to mention there are too many former Sydney people on the coast.  They just do not go to a sporting event unless their team is winning.  Not fickle just front runners.

The AFL must have 18 teams for TV rights.  Wouldn't stop them moving the Suns and rebranding them to Darwin or Hobart.  Suns must make the finals this year.

The gold coast dolphins and later the gold coast cougars won the national baseball league 4 or 5 times and crowds were quite good. Wasn't uncommon to get 5-10k to a game.

Who ?  Just looked it up and it was 90-99

That is a huge crowd for a minority sport in Australia.  Never realised they were that strong.  Really is a shame it all folded.  Basketball was going ok at that time as well.  Now top level Basketball is dead in the water.

Rugby is next with the ARU and the franchises broke.  Rebels will move out of Melbourne in the next couple of years.  The ARU is thick enough to believe they could be relocated to the coast.
