hardest thing to do is swing the driver slowly and go for timing ,same as a cover drive in cricket easy and smooth goes way further ,harder you try to hit it the worse it goes, swing it at 80 % and keep your legs quiet , is what i am going to do next couple of weeks till i get some form going again

Plenty of those

What is the longest club you do hit well consistently?

I think I know what your getting at, I've dropped back to hitting 3w of the tee on the shorter holes with some(not total) success and will continue to do so but not being the longest of hitters I will need the driver at some stage.........

If you are hitting your long irons pretty well but not your driver either you are swinging differently with your driver or your driver fit is so off that it is creating bad misses.

Which do you think it is? I know that over swinging is the bane of my golf as it creates so many different bad results - tips, pushes. pulls. If it's the fitting though then you can fix that. Go to Drummond or whoever has a launch monitor and try out a bunch of other drivers against your current one to see if be of them fixed your driving.

notup check your backswing if  you are searching for distance you could be swinging back passed parallel  try some 80%  three quarter backswing shots see how you go

I'd say even if you aren't ar parallel if you are swaying or getting out of posture on the backswing it is too far back

Golf is a thinking game and as with cricket is technique not brute hoiking of a club to the ball.

Drivers and distance is the combination most see. I worked on accuracy and the driver hit the fairway and 180-200 metres of the the was good enough Then the distance could be worked on and now 210 plus off the tee and still accurate on the fairway. It is a lot of fun dissecting a big hitting golfer in match play by being 50 behind them off the tee but in the hole for the same and less when they are having to create shots from trees etc when off the fairway. I actually purchased small head drivers  380cc to 440 cc and used them for some time in favour of the current 460cc max size. Golf is a great reason to buy stuff Happy golfing

Defiantly think its me and not the equipment, I got fitted up by Bryan Ferguson so I'm confident the sticks aren't the issue(although any excuse to hit some new equipment I guess!)

Yeah I don't get past parallel in the backswing rjp pretty confident its a combination of over hitting and the bottom hand taking over and coming OTT and probably a bit to much of a sway in the backswing as ive been having issues with hitting behind the ball a little.
