Just watching the test against the Pakis and Lyon is tossing up absolute rubbish yet again.  Things must be very crook in Tallarook if he is our best spinner.

He doesn't turn the ball, get it to dip or drift.  He does nothing.

Thank god for Mitch !

112 wickets at 32 ish from 33 tests

That's by means bad

It's day one ....plus Pakistan play spun really well

Me thinks a bit harsh on the Lyon

Plus ....there currently is no one else

Hello ...he's ripping it now ...

Nearly got a wicket last ball

I agree his variety is non existent but he's still young in terms of test match experience

Bullshit decision the last one that's not a cricket shot at the ball I hate test matches in this part of the world ......dodgy decision

That's out ....not a shot offered

I will ask this again

How come we get such dodgy umpiring in this part of the world when playing Indian and Pakistan .....

Funny how the ball can spin if it is not bowled as a dart.  Lyon is crap.

There is no one else - currently. But that has always been the issue with Lyon. Why, who knows.

O'Keefe - does he spin it? Doherty - does he spin it? Hauritz? Krezja? Anyone else.  Only possible light is Boyce - but is he 20 year old yet and he is a leggie?

Is there a pitch left in Australia where spinners can dominate? Nope. Its all about the batsmen. Just look at Ben Dunk making a double hundred in a 50 over match WTF? Postage stamp of a ground, but the pitch gave nothing to the bowlers.

Is it any wonder Australia can't develop spin bowlers when there is no where at state level for them to dominate.

Agree

There is very little incentive

The spinners we do have are geared for t20 cricket which is flat darts

On this match

It was day one though

I watched the last hour ...on at good time if you live in WA

Lyon was turning it big in the last hour which is a concern for us batting later.

They have good spinners and we don't play spin very well .....I don't want to be battling last on this pitch

Two big lbw shouts were unlucky not to be given out ......we need to restrict them to less that 320

Chasing 150-200 on this pitch will be tough going batting last

His record isn't bad ...he's the best we have got at this point

SPORT JUST CATERS TO WHAT THE ADMINISTRATORS THINK THE AUDIENCE WANT TO SEE - BATTERS SMASHING IT ALL OVER THE GROUND so give em flat tops - (sorry caps) I wonder if a bowler had taken 10 wickets would it have been all over the news like the dbl hunner?

I keep saying

Do away with local curators for test matches ...they doctor pitches

get the best curators in the world and form a panel ...

At each test match there is two and they prepare the wicket .....they arrive a month before the match the prepare the pitch of a good contest between bat and ball

This wicket is a disgrace to cricket and there is no "test" for the batsmen on this pitch

The most important person isn't the players or umpires it's the curators.

This wicket had no grass on it ...no even a rolled in blade of grass

All you need to do is bloody water it a bit a few weeks leading into the match

Give me a test match where the four innings are about 200-220 runs each than this crap .....Pakistan should have made 700 on that deck such was the lifeless nature

Now I understand they were scared of Mitch Johnson and having any life in this pitch ....but this is a joke to test cricket it really is.

The fact Warner was reverse sweeping with his eyes closed shows how lifeless this pitch is ....beyond a joke.

You can't import curators, that is a dumb idea.

Curators have to know the type of grass, the soil, the vagaries of the Climate, types of weeds, diseases and their control which changes dramatically from country to country.  Even in Australia it would be very difficult for a Tasmanian curator to take up a job at the Gabba.

It is up to the ICC to give guidelines and penalise countries if they transgress.  However, the ICC is a toothless tiger and a pawn of India so nothing will ever change.

Would easily average 65 now with the roads they play on now

He played on pitches with grass on them .....against Lillee and Thomson

Can't really agree with that.

Greenkeepers, curators.......they would have to know almost everything there is to know about grass, soil, weeds, diseases anywhere....that is their job...it's a science and these guys are highly skilled in their profession.

Um no good in this match

Can't see us lasting to lunch

Pitch is farken terrible but no excuses we have played terribly and once again look very inept against spin

We must not take plonkers over there......plonkers are guys that plonk their front foot down and then try to hit the ball against spin

Doolan looked al at see ..rogers is patient and plays spun quite well

Can't fault Warner really ........but Michael Clarke coming in after no lead in cricket at all isn't good. I'm glad this is only a two match series

Is the second game played at the same venue ?

If so we are in trouble
