Funny how quitting the job helps the golf.

I recommend it to everyone.

I'd recommend it to everyone, but someone has to pay tax for my pension.

Played again today. Played like poo but managed 33 points.

15 front nine with no wipes
18 back nine with 2 wipes

Stupid game.

Couldn't sink a putt for most of the game. Can't hit my irons. Hit some nice drives.

Need to sort these irons out, starting to give me the shites.

Anyway, flagged, but this one replaced the one that dropped off. No change in cap. Have the next 9 rounds free of flags so can really have a crack at getting my GA down to 17.5.

Another day another solid round. Started on the 10th 44 and 45 for 89 off the bat and a net 68. First time I've broke 90 since December last year.

Didn't hit the ball that great, but wasn't terrible. Playing weird lately. Not killing it but still scoring well. Onky hit 2 greens in reg, had a birdie from the fringe Short game is pretty good, putting is ok, only 33 putts. 1 3 putt.

Was in the lead when I left, might hold up as the pins were tough.

Will be my 7th flag in 7 rounds. Really closing in on that 17.5.

Golflink in, played to 14.6. Dropped a whole shot off the cap. Now down to 17.3 Holy crapola. Still not good enough for a win but who cares.

Quick review of the year

Rounds played: 14 ( 10 in the last 4 months)

Starting GA: 21.3

End GA: 16.9

Best played to : 14.6

Pretty happy with the way I finished the year. Finally settled in to Werribee life, joined the club and started to play with more regularity. That's definitely helped my game with a massive drop in cap. Probably being helped by the fact Werribee is probably over sloped a bit but I'm still playing better golf. Dropping nearly 5 shots in 4 months with flags in every round in the last 7 straight games was satisfying. Think I'm close to a really low score soon (low for me anyway) as I'm finally confident in my skill set and I'm able to play within my means. The only time I blow out now is when I try and do something beyond my ability.

Happy new year to you all, hope to have a round with a few of you melbournites this year now I have more free time.

Cheers.

First round of the year at the zoo. Had Lukos87 join me and it was a cracking day for golf. Played off 20 and had a very solid 46 + 43 off the stick for 18 + 21 points.

39 points with 2 x wipes consisted of
2 x triple bogey
3 X double bogey
6 X bogey
6 X par
1 X birdie

Both triples were on par 3s which sucks and ended with 3 putts. They sucked and the triple on 17 really farked me off as I was 2 over for the back 9 up until then. Lost focus on 18 and doubled that as well. So, let a really good score go and had to "settle" with 39 points. Still broke 90 and am doing that regularly now. Seems like my bad rounds are mid 90s now instead of raising the bat.

Apart from those 3 putts which were purely mental, putted fairly well today. Landed quite a few long putts for par and bogey to keep the score ticking along.

Irons were a bit hit and miss early on but corrected them on the back 9 including one of the sweetest 7i I've ever hit. On the 13th, Tugged my drive over to to the 14th tee. Was 145 out with trees and bunker in front. Hit it sweet and landed it 5 feet from the pin. Missed the bird though which is the only putt I should have holed that I didn't.

So played off 20, played to 15.5. GA drops from 16.9 to 16.3 will be off 19 for the medal.

Oh yeah, fella in our group, had 9 points through 8 holes and "hated golf" proceeded to par the last 10 holes to finish with 37 points.

Pretty average medal day today. Kind of. Playing off 19, 45 + 46 for 91 off the stick and net 72.

Felt like I had 1 million bogeys but on reflection, was actually 10.

1 triple
3 doubles
10 bogeys
4 pars

3 god damn 3 jabs, 2 of which were with the flag in. Not sure if there's anything to that but worth mentioning.

Apart from the 3 jabs, had 4 X 1 putts and had at least 5 putts lip out, 2 of those were for bird, my putting was pretty good except those brain sharts.

Rest of my game was weird, just batlled all day and was actually putting together a good score. Then 17 and 18 happened. Finished double/triple for the 2nd game in a row.

Really starting to get the shits with the finish and I can't pinpoint why it's happening. Hopefully starting off the 10th next week changes it up a bit.

This round will flag and I'll get another ball down the line to replace the one I lost on 18. First ball I've lost in three weeks.

Golflink is in, net 72 off 19 somehow becomes a played to 16.3 and I'm down to 15.9. I'm already at my goal for 2019 so need to reevaluate what I'll be aiming for this year and how to achieve it.

Thanks weets, yeah well I guess that's the plan. The method will be more focusing on shot making. There's a few shots I need to learn that I find myself needing to play. I don't try them now so they automatically cost me a shot when I bunt back out to safety. Also putting. I'm an OK putter and I'm always confident around the greens but I need to shave about 4-5 putts per game. Weather that means focusing on aim with my irons and wedges or just practice putting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No golf for 2 weeks as work and family commitments have had priority.

I put my name down for pennants on a whim last year and first round team was named a few weeks back. I wasn't close as I'd dropped my cap too much and was now at the upper end of the lower grade. Anyway they got trounced 8-3 by Eynesbury and I've been given the nod for this Sunday against Baccus Marsh. Shite. Nerves. Never played match play let alone pennants And I've not got any golf scheduled before then to blow the cobwebs out. Might be able to get away from work early this afternoon for 9 holes (god bless daylight savings) but that's probably it until Sunday.
