The Clubbies are so last year. I haven't entered the spaz match play champs either. My sole focus is to reduce my GA cap to 11.6 from 12.8. This equivalent to 8 rounds averaging 86 every 20. That will have me playing off 13 which will be a new PB.

Funnily enough 2 rounds of 86 would've qualified me for the B Grade playoffs.

I learnt a lot about my game in the 4 rounds leading up to the Clubbies, the 2 qualifying rounds and the 2 playoffs. When I tried my very best on Saturday, whilst not playing my best golf, I was able to score much better than 86. I was thoroughly drained by the end, to the point of having a headache. Haven't had that since my workdays.

When I look at Mistats my ave is 87.8 so only a 2 shot deficit. My hybrids are mint so I've modified the game plan.

1. Ave 5.8
2nd shot from left 3w and 3h from right. Coming into the green from the left not working. Too narrow a target. Should layup unless middle or right.

2. Ave 6.0
Missing right too often with 3w 2nd. Use 3h unless on fairway right. Can go for green from 175m in as 165 club will carry front bunker. Too often have downhill 3 jab need to get under the hole and even short.

3. Ave 3.8
Going much better, especially off Blues as I can choke 5h and get a fade. I'm 1 under in the last 5 rounds.

4. Ave 5.1 Problem hole
Must layup. Finding green 10% at best. Drive is a Driver bunt as I can't afford to be out of position. If right, driver off the deck is a perfect layup

5. Ave 4.4
Missing mayor’s office too often from the tee. Driver bunt is good enough

6. Ave 4.6
Driver bunt and 5h is perfect

7. Ave 5.7
3rd shots too aggressive. Going over or occasionally tugging into left bunker. Should be front edge or short making sure of bogey.

8. Ave 3.6
Ok when 145+ or -110. In between I find right bunker far too often, must go front middle For this distance range.

9. Ave 5.0 Scary hole
Bunker left or trees right too often. Change to driver bunt and 3h 2nd leaving -90 in. Have to eliminate doubles.

10. Ave 4.5
Driver bunt and whatever left. Don't ever not have a 2nd at the green.

11. Ave 5.0 Easy bogey turns into double too often
Bunker left or trees right reeks of double. Good drive easy 4. Try driver bunt and see if I can get up n down.

12. Ave 3.9
Less than 160 go for it otherwise layup left. Always layup the other choice.

13. Ave 5.0
Driver left of tree and go for it with hybrid. Too often swing too hard and drown for double.

14. Ave 4.9
Too much around or in right bunker. Driver bunt and 3h short. Too often in tricky downhill 3jab country

15. Ave 4.0
4h layup. 3w bunt too often finding sand and if its short right bunker then double is probable

16. Ave 5.3
Driver, 3h easy shot green centre

17. Ave 5.8
Too often closed off right. Driver bunt then 3w to big fairway. Nothing more than a 5h in otherwise layup.

18. Ave 5.4 Bad hole.
Bunker left is double as is trees right. Frequently too ambitious with my 2nd trying to draw around corner. Will try driver bunt that should end up fairway right and then 3h straight as far as it can go. Then green centre.

IF I don't make an error and have a poor 36 putts that would be a 81 OTS, 14 FIR and 10 GIR

So I can have 5 errors and still have 86 OTS. Plus every 1 putt allows for another shot in the error pool.

I've got 15 rounds planned for Keysie from Wednesday through to March 30th. I'm going to follow this plan diligently for each round and track my scoring averages per hole in the best 8 plus my errors per hole.

You didn't mention average for the 19th hole..........

Mouldy

you are not far away

you have a wide range of shots in your skill bank and a game plan for the course you are going to play, many players dont have, that is a good start.

there is always going to be variations in your ball hitting from one day to next thats why golf is such a hard game, even the pros have good days and bad days.

The discipline comes from sticking to the game plan and the process (pre shot routine, sensible club selection) and playing with aggressive conservative approach, just like you did in the match play.

I thought it was due to your BS handicap.

That too. Its on its way down to where it should be. BS handicap is from a year of believing I was better and trying too hard.

Funny how its gone from me being naga for OOM's and being crap to now having a bs handicap after a 12-18 months lol
