No problem today so all good for the National Old with SC tomorrow Arvo.

Very excited as I haven't even seen the course. SC has already told me not to keep score or even think about my score. A box of balls has gone into the bag.

Weather looks like being perfect.

Only 1 box?

The Old is brutal if your swing is a runy bit off

My pair of -11s on the Old and Moonah on Friday are testament to this.

Played a round at Keysie on Wednesday with the Orange Volvic. The same ball went around StAB on Friday and has now gone around the National Old. It just doesn't want to leave me.

Found heaven today at the National Old. My new favourite golf course in place of StAB. Myself and a 13 marker played the Blues. SC and mate played the Blacks.
If I had to play Blacks I wouldn't bother as I'm just not long enough off the tee.

Ping G25 back in the bag and performed very well which seems to be the key at the Old.

Besides the 3s and shortish 4s I didn't even contemplate GIRs. Just kept the ball in play. Chipping was good and hit some nice shots from 80-100m. Finished the round with a wedge to 4' on 18 missing the birdie of course.

Putting was a complete mix of some nice putts and some horrid.

Had a 5 jab after it took 3 attempts to get up Everest to find the top tier.

So much fun with every shot a mental challenge and then comes the execution. Just loved it

The Old Course at The National was certainly a test at times when I played there in April and I was lucky to be hitting the ball well and avoided too much trouble. What did you think of the 4th and 7 th holes Mouldy?

Awesome. The 4th wasn't intimidating but the 7th certainly was. A beautiful day with only a 1-2 club breeze occasionally. The margin of error on 7 is stuff all so on a windy day it would be close to unplayable for a chopper like me.

As I said previously one of my best days playing golf and performance wasn't a factor.

Big day tomorrow.

Mentally, I'm in the best place I've been for a few months. Physically, I feel great and my golf fitness has returned.

After some tinkering I feel the bag is almost as good as I can have it. Finding a 14 deg driver head and appropriate shaft is the only improvement left available to me.

Knowledge of my probablility to execute certain shots is strong and reliable.

Chipping is good, bunker work is good, hybrids are consistent, wedges accurate.

Short irons just need less tension in the hands and arms but I feel very good in the setup.

Just need 32 or fewer putts to post a great score.

Regardless of my score after 3 holes I will have a groundbreaking round tomorrow.

28 Back 11 then Front 17

2 hybrid off the tee was about the only part of the game that was reasonable.

Driver crap
24 & 27 hybrids crap
Short irons disgusting. Only one GIR for the day on 7 (our 16th) and that was a mishit
Wedges disgusting
Bunker play horrible
Chipping ok at the end, deplorable for the first 13 holes. Up n down on 5, 8 and 9 meant I played the last 5 in 2 over.

3 jabbed 18 for the 3rd consecutive round. Some good putts outshone by the bad ones.

so, talk us through the changes you've made and ingrained over the last week and a half to go from, for example your wedges from being disgusting to being accurate or your bunker play from horrible to good?
