Mouldy, maybe you can get some clubs from the new "Hydra" range.  One shaft, many heads.  Then, not only do you have single length shafts, but a single shaft.  Single grip too.  The benefits are never-ending.  This must be investigated in detail.  Also, I hear Jon has his eye on a nice joint in Bora Bora.

so, your issue this last little bit has been your consistency with your clubs, what better way to address that than by changing your set.

Do you have a longer shaft in the 4 than the 3 or anything eclectic like that? Or maybe same length in all of them?

2 was slightly shorter and stiffer than the 3. Both went well but 2 slightly better. 3 to be tip trimmed to match 2.

4 was shorter than the rest. I think it's going to be about 1/2" shorter than 2/3 and same stiffness. 5 same as 4 but a bit shorter again I think.

2 and 3 bought together with 4 and 5 bought separately later. Jon has the details but from memory the 2 and 3 had the same head weights so matching them makes sense.

Hell no. Back into it tomorrow. Not currently giving a fat rats about my handicap is a perfect time to fully explore at Keysie. Bag full of irons in the boot ready to go. Gaz would be very pleased.

StAB on Friday and National Old on Monday are not for meddling though. Getting 180m plus from the 2h off the tee is my fairway finder on tough holes and so will be in regular use.

Single shaft removes far too many variables. Pretty much limited to Summer and Winter shafts. Far too vanilla for a man of my complexity.

Indeed (I am pleased), what is golf, if not for experimenting and just having fun.

I don't reckon anyone on their deathbed, will be lamenting having too many shots during a Stableford round back in the autumn of 2017.

Enjoy your experimenting I say ....... :)

Funny Gaz...I went to the storage shed today and decided to bring home the HG'S. I am thinking of doing you....and Mouldster...and "sharing the love" from time to time. The only issue I think I'll have is the varying distances of each club. Perhaps over winter, the HG'S will get more of a run??

No...I must admit I did think about that for a split second....but decided to leave it there.   I think I brought home my original blade putter and a David Leadbetter "swingsetter" that was sitting in the old bag.   Who knows what's going to happen???

Hosted Ari at Keysie today. With birdies on 2 and 3 he looked like tearing it a new one. Despite another birdie on 14 gun putter Mouldy had less putts on the day. Slight gilding of the lily as I missed too many from 4' but didn't have any 3 jabs compared to Ari's three.

A very funny day as for unknown reasons I was subject to vicious sledging. Especially from my regular 82yo playing partner when he out drove me. Great day out on a course in great nick.

With the gaybrids in for service the De Shampoo iron set went into the bag. Whilst distances are a bit uncertain so is my swing. Hit some very nice shots for GIR on 3 and 8. Ball flight is better than my Mizzies for a reason yet to be identified. Only problems were the 4i which I had trouble launching well and chipping with the 7i length Pw. Like Lukos I think there is an advantage in the shorter 5i and 6i. Maybe longer 8i and 9i is ok but Pw just doesn't work. Quite convinced there is something to be gained. Will talk to Jon tomorrow about the 4i.

One thing was established on the 5th. I can shank shampoo irons.

Played poorly out of two fairway bunkers, the shank and an horrific OTT drive for a wipe on 2 gave me 32 (16+16).

Hit some great 3w including a rare GIR on 9. It seems the spell in the naughty corner has worked. Plus the better swing I'm now putting on hybrids which I replicated with the 3w. Quite a quandary now with 3w 10m longer than the 2h but the 2h more consistent. Maybe I carry both and drop the 48w.

Haven't got the courage to carry the shampoo irons at StAB or National but some will be in the bag at Keysie on Sat.

Really enjoying my golf.

Thanks for the day Rob. Was a fun day. Course was great and the bunkers were in good condition. Was funny to see you get out driven by an 82 year old. And not just once!! Was a great day out no fog thankfully as you predicted it. Also was funny to have 9 points in first 3 holes!! Only to get 8 in the next 7. But such is golf
