Top stuff Rob.

Sounds like you struck the ball a treat today.

Isn't it a ***** though when you hit a tonne of greens and putt poorly?!!

That's one of my greatest golfing peeves.

The good news is you did all the hard work though.

"All in all very happy with probably my best ball striking day ever.  Short game just needs practice and more practice.  As much as I hate it, I have to admit the 400 balls I hit with woods and hybrids in the last 2 weeks has made a difference."

Well done and toughing out the 'heresy' of practise. As much as I do the range time, there is still a part of me that just wants to play the game. Then as you said in a round a shot must get to the spot to save a hole and it happens because of the practise done getting consistent.

Ha. I love Sandy. Good to see that recovery is coming along nicely Rob. Some Mighty impressive stats there.
36 putts whilst not optimal, isn't too bad considering the NUMBER oF GIRS.

The bad part of it was that I was well within 20' on most GIRs.  Absolutely creamed the short irons.  Bugger of a game

9 quick holes around Sandy this morning just after the rain stopped.  Track conditions Slow to Heavy so drives were much shorter and longer irons required.  Shot 40 without playing very well.  Overall the game is in good shape at the moment.

Choking down on the driver gave me 7/7 fairways albeit one only went 150m as I was chasing a big one.  What a huge difference it makes when you are in play on every hole.  As planned one more hitout and if successful again the shaft gets chopped.  I am going that way as the grip is a little too small.

Hit one 3 wood very poorly and one hybrid very well.

Irons were poor and only had 2 gir but I was generally hitting 5 or 6 irons as distinct from 8-PW on Monday.

More chips today with the mid irons missing and going back to my tried and true method paid dividends.

Pitching was poor, just a concentration thing and failure to adapt to the soft greens.

Read Dave Pelz's Putting Bible yesterday and inside the front cover i had written a note to myself on the key points in the book.  Number one was eyes over the ball.  Number two was get into a routine.  15 putts and I felt like I had a chance of holing all of them.  Obviously I had a parallax error on Monday and getting my eyes in the right plane made a big difference.  Rehearsing the length of stroke required meant my length was much better.  Left a couple short of ideal length which ducked under the hole as the greens were slowish.  Big improvement and looking forward to my next start.

Very happy chappy

Standard length 45.75" down to 43.75".  Used the rubber band method to progressively drop down.  I can't believe the difference it has made to my scores.  I would stick to the choking down but it feels a bit funny with such a small grip.  After a final confirmation next Monday I will go and see Jon and either get a thicker grip and choke down or chop it off and re-weight depending on his recommendation.

Front sadly.  2 of the 4 play 18 whilst myself and my old mate retire to a restaurant for fine wine and whatever food with a couple of other retired golfers.

Funny thing is, I tend to play the back better even though it is heaps harder.  Except 12 that is.  It has me in need of a psychiatrist other than the one I play with every week who is off his tree on the course.  Never thought I would see white line fever in a shrink.  Generally score well on 13-17 whilst my mates, who are a bit older, struggle so often make a profit.  Always happy with bogey on 18 which earns its number one spot.  I own 11, 14 and 17, always looking for a 4 pointer.

12 is a massive dog left left par 4

Great risk/reward hole but can be par'd by playing safe too as long as you don't mind hitting a mid/long iron to the green

The par 4 is the 16th GG.  15th is the short par 3 which has been made more interesting recently by placing the pin high left behind the bunker.  The last 3 being numbers 2,5 and 1 makes for a big finish.

Thanks mate. I really should proof read my ****. Love the finish. You don't know if you're found well until you finish those 3 holes. The 5 th par 4 with the dog leg left is never easy to get on in 2.
