I actually got some inspiration from Deege's notetaking and decided that to get better I needed to become more methodical about analyzing my game and addressing the deficiencies. This seems to be the place to store a journal on the shots that aren't working so I can get some more specific help from Garth when I see him in a couple of months.
I had an arthroscopy on my knee last Friday so off the course until I get the all clear from the surgeon. Consequently, I am using the time to think about what is in my bag and how I should rejig it. Saw Jon at TGP today and now tweaking what is obviously wrong. Wrong shaft in 2-3 hybrid, too much bounce in sand wedge and out of spec lob wedge. Iron shaft experimentation for higher ball flight is next.
Once I am back on the course I will use Golfshot to track my distances more often rather than just feeding my ego on good drives. I think I know what I hit, but as I get older I may be losing a few metres. Also, I would like to quantify what difference the atmosphere makes. Some days it seems the ball may be flying a club shorter and quantifying this in the first couple of holes must be an advantage.
I am always the first ready on the tee and first to my ball so have plenty of time to journalise without holding up anyone.
Currently I am off 14.9 and my lowest was 40 years ago when I was briefly off 12 so that is my first target.
