My annual visit up your way in a few weeks, Toc.

Just let me know and will see if it clashes with a trip to Melbourne.

I could try & remember that you'll have a hit with us. Or you could just find me at the motel afterwards and we'll have a beer or red.

Par today on the captains course and cold and windy but no rain but it threatened to all day. Putting was ok at times and did not miss too many. I had -1 on the front nine but did not seem to scramble too much. The back nine started better but a couple of missed chances saw me finish the nine +1 for total of 0 ( square) and managed to score 3 balls in the ball run down.

Stableford on a composite course of both front nines and playing off the whites with a handicap of 11 for the day. 18 points on the front nine with 1 wipe , and crossed over to the back nine and started off with a birdie, I finished with another 18 points with a wipe but the good sign of where my game is headed was I had 5 birdie chances of various lengths on the back nine.

Stableford yesterday and On the captains course, started with a double bogey then followed up with a birdie and that set the tone for the day. I had 15 points on the front nine with one wipe and the back nine was not much better with 16 points for a grand total of 31 points. There was 5 birdie chances and only converted one but hopefully I can convert all chances one day.:)

Stableford on the presidents course and started on the back nine and scrambled to get 15 points with 1 wipe and a couple 3 jabs. The second nine was better with 22 points and 2 birdies thrown in but a couple single point holes hurt a bit and one three putt. I finished with 37 points and had a few birdie chances of varying lengths but could not convert them all but it's getting closer.

Played on a composite course of captains front and presidents back and stableford was the game of the day. I started off with 2 pars and that set the tone for the front nine and ended up with 19 points. Today the bunkers were still a bit heavy but I managed to get out without too many hassles today and a couple sandy saves.
The back nine was off to crap start with a drive that was OOB and could not scramble a point but managed to scramble around the back nine for 15 points for a total of 34 points.
Handicap dropped to 10.0 and hopefully on the way down and with a game on Saturday and then playing at Metropolitan and Royal Melbourne ( east course) on Monday and Tuesday so hopefully my handicap will not head north after next week.

Played on a composite course of presidents front and captains back and par of 73, I scrambled all day or so it seemed at times and missed a couple par chances and wiped one hole on the front nine for 17 points and the back nine was was similar and finished with 17 points with a wipe on the last but did get a NTP but missed the birdie on the 17th. Handicap has dropped to 9.9 and playing at Metropolitan on Monday and Royal Melbourne ( east Course ) on Tuesday and hopefully no movement on my handicap with a flag dropping off In two games.

Played metropolitan on Monday and chopped it around and ended up with a neat 100 off the stick. Highlights and lowlights were slicing one off the tee on the 4th tee and hitting a provisional ball up the middle and doing a cursory search for the ball and then finding the original ball in an unplayable lie and taking a drop only to end up in another unplayable lie and finally walking off with a 12 then I birdied the next hole. There was some discussion in the group about not worrying about the first ball and just going straight to the provisional ball especially when it was middle of the fairway.

Played royal Melbourne on Tuesday on the East Course and started off in showers and windy conditions and struggled to play well but a sore back did not help until I had warmed up but I did sink some decent putts at times , but now have a bit of an idea about the course and conditions next time I get to play there.
Handicap went the wrong way but off on a week away on Saturday and no golf for a week or so.

You can always go back to your previous shot and replay it as one of the options for an unplayable

Can't use the provisional though

Not a popular option that one

The chance that the first ball is playable is always there and you can get a half decent swing and get further than the provisional ball is what tempts me sometimes.
