Stableford at Royal Melbourne (East) on Monday.   Shot gun start but as I was playing my semi final of the handicap matchplay as well (much to OB's disgust  ) I was able to hit off on the second hole.   For those of you who don't know where that is....it's still a fair walk from the clubhouse.   With the rain that we had over night and the previous weekend I was expecting a little softer greens which might have been "slower".  Unbelievably they weren't and it was still hard to find a pitch mark from approaching wedges.

Anyway can't be farked going through the round other than to say I had to give my opponent 5 shots and 4 of those shots were on the front 9   as the committee told me to go off the course index.

Front 9 - 12 points (No wipes)

Back 9 - 16 points (No wipes)

Clearly a lot of one pointers and frustratingly a couple of 3 putts.

I was 2 down with 2 to play and won the 17th hole and then we halved the 18th.   Lost my match 1 down.   A little frustrated but that's golf.

Sunday is the OOM which hopefully I can get somewhere around the handicap.

Woops....didn't have much to say about the OOM, by the looks.   A little bit forgetful other than a birdie and NTP on the par 3 17th.

The game at Kingswood/Peninsula last Friday was a little bit forgetful too.....other than a birdie 3 on the par 4 10th and won the NTP second shot.

Move on..........

Tuesday was a trip to Long Reef GC in NSW.   Playing off 10 for the day as the rating was only 123 from the whites.   I can't remember the indexes on most of the holes so scored shots, it is......

2nd - Par 3 - Par - (2 putts) GIR

3rd - Par 4 - Eagle - (0 putts ) GIR   :P

4th - Par 4 - Bogey - (2 putts)

5th - Par 4 - Par - (1 putt) FIR

6th - Par 4 - Bogey (1 putt) FIR

7th - Par 3 - Birdie (1 putt) GIR

8th - Par 4 - Par (2 putts) GIR

9th - Par 5 - Par (2 putts) FIR & GIR)

So,,,22 points (36 OTS and par the front 9)

Well those calls have been sorted.........

10th - Par 3 and # 1 index ?   Took out the LTBall and took a 4 iron into the wind and uphill for 153 metres.   Put a shite swing on it but got away with it being short and left.   Duffed the easy chip short again and then chipped it past the whole (above it) about 6 feet.   3 putted from there for triple bogey - Wipe

11th - Par 4 - Par (1 putt)

12th - Par 4 - Bogey (2 putts)

13th - Par 3 - Bogey (3 putts) GIR just outside Madams NTP

14th - Par 4 - Bogey (2 Putts) FIR

15th - Par 5 - Double (2 putts) FIR

16th - Par 4 - Double (2 putts) FIR

17th - Par 4 - Double (1 putt) FIR

18th - Par 4 - Par (2 putts) GIR

So 12 points (47 OTS) 18 putts

4 - FIR

2 - GIR

36 & 47 for 83 OTS and net 73 for the day.  31 putts so "what could have it been"????

It was still fun, even though I "lost it" IM.   ;)

Ventured down to St. Andrews Beach yesterday for a stableford round.   There was apparently no one on the course so instead of a one tee start we had a shotgun start....so that was a bonus.   Playing off the blue tees, for something different, as I don't think I've ever played the course from so far back before.   It definitely makes the course set up different....lucky there wasn't any strong winds.   Apparently our Secretary was playing his matchplay semi-final and managed to get another shot over his opponent, if we played off the blue markers....so lucky him.  ;)   (He won his match, by the way.)     Weather was fine and patchy sunshine as the day went on.    11 handicap for the day.

Anyway shot gun start on the tough 3rd hole.

3rd - Bogey 5 (2 points) 2 putts and FIR

4th - Birdie 2 (4 points) chip in no putts from the front fringe

5th - Bogey 5 (2 points) 2 putts and FIR

6th - Double 5 (wipe) 2 putts

7th - Par 4 (3 points) 2 putts FIR & GIR

8th - Bogey 5 (1 point) 2 putts FIR

9th - Birdie 3 (4 points) 1 putt  FIR & GIR

and later .......

1st - Double 7 (Wipe) 2 putts FIR

2nd - Par 4 (2 points) 1 putt and FIR

So 40 OTS, 18 points, 14 putts, 7 FIR & 2 GIR

Back 9......

10th - Bogey 5 (2 points) 2 putts FIR

11th - Double 5 (wipe) 2 putts

12th - Double 6 (1 point) 2 putts FIR

13th - Double 6 (1 point) 1 putt

14th - Par 4 (2 points) 2 putt FIR & GIR

15th - Double 6 (1 point) 3 putts FIR

16th - Bogey 4 (2 points) 2 putt

17th - Birdie 4 (3 points) 1 putt FIR & GIR

18th - Bogey 5 (2 points) 2 putts FIR

So 45 OTS, 14 points, 17 putts 6x FIR and 2 x GIR

Total 85 off the stick for 32 points and 31 putts.    3 Birdies....first time I can recall doing that in a round.      Pretty happy with that off, the almost back plates, at times.   Some really good stuff and just a pity about the wipes.    I did come up agonisingly just short with a few putts that could have made a difference but I have to take the good with the bad.

Next week is Riversdale against the members at 8.00 am.   Works in perfectly as I'm on night shift next week and the course is on the way home.....sweet.   :)
