On another personal note.........decided to upgrade my car and will be picking it up this afternoon.   We dropped in to Honda 2 Saturdays ago just to look and they had a promotion on.   Ended up getting $500 worth of extras and bought a Honda Civic Hatch (5 door) Auto VTI-L 18.   I was going to trade my current Honda but decided to let "BEEF" have it for $7K and pay it off, as he's working a lot more now.

Funny though....when I looked at the car I wasn't going to buy it unless the clubs fitted in the boot.   Took my clubs into the dealership and threw them in the hatch........perfect fit.   B)

Ha, no.   I went with Dr Sues and BEEF, and there was no way I was allowed to  get silver. (which is the Beige of cars)    There was a white model there and with the black trimmings, which we liked, so went with that....unfortunately it's Collingwood's colours.   Going to make it even worse when we go to Vic Roads today and change my personalised plates over from the Accord.     :D

Stableford yesterday at Cranbourne.    Initially it was listed as a stroke round and MM but our tee time was delayed by the lady members so the committee changed it to Stableford.....unbeknown to our group.    So we played stroke and counted putts.   Playing off 11 for the day and hitting off the 10th tee in a 2 tee start.

Woops....watch this space later as I have to go for coffee and I'll finish this later.

White is for accountants, actuaries, analysts and tax agents. Oh, and politicians official cars.

...............and I resume my earlier review of yesterdays game at Cranbourne........

Crap first 9 (Back 9) - 47 OTS or 13 points.    Lots of shots from the bunkers and couldn't drop a putt.

Crap second 9 (Front 9) - 45 OTS or 14 points.   A couple of blow out holes (Triple on 8  ) so it just wasn't going to be a good day.

Course was in great condition, greens very quick (they just kept on rolling) and bunker sand was very nice.     I haven't played there for a few years and was surprised that they had made a new hole (14th) and the old one has grown over.

I was minus 6,000 points on Genisis Cup and moved out .5 shots on the handicap as I lost a flag.   Now 10.9 and with our Doubles Match Play coming up next Monday at Southern.

OOM # 2 yesterday at the North course of Rosebud CC.   Playing stableford off 12 for the day.   Hit off the 10th first in showers and fairly strong winds

Can't remember all the holes so I wont go into a hole by hole

Back 9 - 18 points and wiped the 18th hole after taking a 7 (?)

Front 9 - 18 points and wiped the 2nd hole after being in the green side bunker for 2 and finishing in a previous players divot that hadn't been raked properly.   Generally played pretty steady and hit some good shots but could convert the birdie chances.

36 points got me 3rd in A grade and without the wipes I had a good chance to salute.   Such is life.

Liked the course, which was in good condition EXCEPT for someone in groups ahead of us who walked down the face of a few bunkers and left their foot prints there.      Even saw a group of 6 playing ahead of us on the front 9 but we did get around in around 4 hours.....pretty good considering the conditions.

Stableford at Yarra Yarra GC yesterday morning.   Playing off the white tees and 12 hcp.   Also had to play my first round of singles (handicap) matchplay against my opponent who was off 27.  I had to give him a shot on 15 of the holes.   Started a little foggy for the 8.00 am shotgun start but because we were playing a match we were first of the 1st tee in a group of 3.  Due to the fog I decided to use a yellow ball (Srixon) to see it better.   My opponent was also using a yellow ball (Titleist)

NOTE :- The first hole is now the old 6th and the second hole is the old 5th....and then everything goes back to the original holes with the long par 3 3rd (was the first hole)

1st hole - One of the holes I didn't have to give a shot was the first and won that with a bogey 5 after putting off the green for my 3rd shot  (FIR & GIR)

2nd hole - Won the next hole with a par (FIR & GIR)

3rd hole - Dragged my tee shot right and so did my opposition.   I saw a ball near the 4th tee and it looked similar to mine with the same markings.   As it was covered in sand I could see the brand but I new the markings and my opponent was convinced his ball was in the green side bunker.   Anyway I chunked mine into the green side bunker but played a great bunker shot to a foot.   My opponent played his ball out and when I picked my ball up to clean it I noticed it was a Titleist.   I'd hit his ball and he'd played mine.   Sooooo....wipe and a half.   First time that I have ever done that and when I saw the markings on his ball, they were the same as the one I was using.   It appears I must have found his ball long ago and just coincidently I was playing with him when I used it.

4th hole - Par but his bogey halved the hole  (FIR & GIR)

5th hole - Birdie after putting my second to about a foot and a half.  (FIR & GIR)  Another win and 3 up at this point

6th hole - Par but lost the hole as my opponent had a par and a shot.   (GIR) 2 up

7th hole - Bogey after leaving my shot in the greenside bunker (trying to be too cute) but great downhill putt to save and halve the hole

8th hole - Par after dropping a 20 foot putt for a win. 3 up

9th hole - Bogey after 3 putting but good enough for a win (FIR & GIR)   4 up.

10th hole - Par   5 up

11th hole - Bogey but lost as my opponent had a shot with his bogey 4 up

12th hole - Double bogey after "topping" my drive and then 3 putting.   3 up

13th hole - Double Bogey and lost it as my opponent had a shot with his double bogey 2 up

14th hole - Par (FIR & GIR) 3 up

15th hole - Bogey    4up with 3 to play  :)

16th hole - Par (FIR & GIR)

17th hole - Bogey

18th hole - Par (FIR & GIR)

17 points

36 total.   Good enough for B grade R/Up.   Overall winner had 37 points

NTP on the magpie hole

A drop of .5 to the handicap so now 10.1.   Pretty happy with the approach irons which helped in more GIR and thus better scoring.

I wasn't going to go through my round on Monday as it was pretty disappointing after a good start......but.....

Riversdale on Monday for the Perpetual "Tilley" trophy.   4BBB aggregate off the white tees and at least we got to play the whole course this year.  (Usually one or two holes are out of play)   Greens were slower than normal and I found it hard to get it to the hole, on occasions...especially down hill.   My 10.1 GL converted to 11 for the day

I was also playing my second round of the handicap Matchplay against a bloke off 27; so two weeks in a row I had to give my opponent more than 15 shots.

Front 9 - 18 points and one down for the match.

10th - Par and a win (Square)

11th - Bogey and a win (1 up)

12th - Bogey (3 putt) and a half when my opponent didn't have an extra shot.   Wasted that one.

13th - Double Bogey (after hitting my drive OOB.)   The provisional was on in 4 and then I 3 putted.     (Square)

14th - Bogey (opponent had 4 and with a shot (1 down)

15th - Double Bogey. Opponent had a shot and also had a 7 so loss (2 down)

16th - Bogey (Opponent conceded the hole after having 7) (1 down)

17th - Par - (Square)

18th - Double Bogey 6 was good enough after my opponent had about 6 into the front bunker before I played my 3rd.   He conceded the hole and then I left my 3rd shot in the bunker.

Back 9 -  11 points

So 29 points and 1 up in the match.    As I indicated....it wasn't pretty but I'll take the win and didn't lose anything off the handicap.   Genesis Cup meant I lost - 4,000 points but pffft.   ;)     Lucky not to win the NAGA for the 4BBB score as my partner had a shocker.  I think we had a total of 53 but NAGA was low 40's.   :o

Well....another day and things improved from last week.   MM at Southern yesterday off the back plates.   Stroke and counting putts.   Playing off 12 for the comp with a strong blustery Northerly/Nor Easter and some times 2 club strength.  (Sorry didn't have "the beard" there so not sure what his rating would have been.)  :P

Two tee start and as usual hitting off the 10th first.

10th - Double Bogey (after two duffed chips)    2 putts

11th - Par (FIR & GIR)   2 putts

12th - Par (GIR) 2 putts

13th - Bogey (FIR)  Into that wind I was pretty happy with that   2 putts

14th - Double Bogey (FIR) 3 putts after leaving the first waaaay short

15th - Bogey    2 putts
