Growling Frog - OOM # 1 on Sunday.    Stableford and as the rating off the markers was reasonably high, I played off 13 for the day.    "Excited" to play off the back nine first in the last group (NOT) but someone has to do it.      I think we waited over every shot for the first six holes.

Anyway......decided not to have a practice hit and just had a putt on the practice green before tee off.   Probably why I hit my first drive left into the rough but managed to get a bogey after a good chip and one putt.

10th - Bogey - 2 points - 1 putt

11th - Par - 3 points - 2 putts

12th - Bogey - 2 points (only 3 putt for the day, I think)

13th - Wipe after a topped drive and the second into the right bunker.   2 putts

14th - Double Bogey - 1 point (after I put my approach into the left greenside bunker and it plugged.   2 to get out)  2 putts

15th - Bogey - 2 points - 2 putts

16th - Bogey - 2 points - 2 putts

17th - Par - 2 points (after just rolling off the green with my second) - 1 putt

18th - Double Bogey - 1 point  2 putts  (after a "Mouldy" third shot nearly finished on the first tee.   Pretty good up but didn't quite get the down as the putt was short.)

So......... 15 points -

...............17 putts -

...............46 OTS

I was a little annoyed at how things had developed but I wanted to hang in there.   Driver was pretty average up to this point but I needed to hang in there for the back 9.

1st - Par - 2 points - 2 putts (Good drive and perfect 9 to about 4 feet.   Missed the birdie putt by just hitting it to hard)

2nd - Par - 3 points - 1 putt (Great "sandy" from the front bunker)

3rd - Bogey - 2 points - 2 putts (Wasted a shot there by not hitting the first putt firm enough)

4th - Par - 3 points - 2 putts

5th - Par - 2 points - 2 putts

6th - Bogey - 2 points - 2 putts

7th - Bogey - 1 point - 2 putts

8th - Par - 3 points - 2 putts

9th - Bogey - 2 points - 2 putts

20 points

17 putts

40 OTS

So 20 & 15 for 35.   40 & 46 OTS for 86 and 34 putts.

7 FIR & 6 GIR. (GIR have been my let down of late but managed to work it out on the second 9)

Pretty basic round in the end but at times I was happy for the couple of extra shots in the hcp.   By the time we got in and put the clubs in the car the presentations had started    Someone said the "back 9" guys had a 5.5 hour round whereas the front 9 guys were a lot quicker.   Such is life.

Decided to play at Heidelberg on Monday (at the insistence of my caddie) with VPGC.   I missed the game there last year and only have a bad memory of a ISG day there when they had just cored and sanded the greens.   That was my only game there and I've heard guys on here saying that it is in good nick at the moment.   Just happened that they had their Pro AM there on the Friday so it was very good.   Greens (to me) were perfect pace.

So another Stableford round but I had lost 0.1 on the handicap from Sunday which saw my GA at 10.5....so I played off 11.   Again it was a 2 tee start and you guessed it.....off the 10th BUT second last group.     No warm up hit but a few more practice putts.....

10th - Double Bogey - 1 point - 1 putt (Necked a 4 wood off the tee behind a tree and on a track - Lucky to get a point)

11th - Par - 2 points - 1 putt (as I was just off the green for 3)

12th - Par - 3 points - 1 putt ( great up and down after my second approach shot was poor)

13th - Par - 2 points - 2 putts (GIR)

14th - Double Bogey - 1 point - 2 putts (Poor drive and 3rd shot wasted a good opportunity)

15th - Birdie - 3 points - 1 putt (GIR) and great curling putt.    :)

16th - Par - 3 points - 2 putts (GIR)

17th - Par - 2 points - 2 putts (GIR)

18th - Par - 3 points - 2 putts (GIR)

So a great last few holes gave me - 20 points, 39 OTS (3 over) and 13 putts

Standing on the 1st I felt good with my game and was hopeful I could keep it up ..............

1st - Par - 3 points - 1 putt (another great up and down from the fringe)

2nd - Bogey - 1 point - 1 putt (This is where things were starting to unravel as the group ahead of us was at least a hole and a half in front and we had a bloke in our group playing for his 2nd card and persisted with marking his shots on his tablet golf program (More of that later)  As the low marker I was trying to get the guys to get a move on

3td - Double Bogey - 1 point - 1 putt

4th - Double Bogey - 1 point - 2 putts

5th - Bogey - 1 point - 2 putts

6th - Par - 2 points - 1 putt

7th - Wipe - (7) 2 putts

8th - Double Bogey - 1 point - 1 putt

9th - Bogey - 2 points - 2 putts

12 points - 48 OTS and 13 putts

So I let a good score got away from me again and finished - 20 & 12 points (32)  39 & 48 OTS (87) and 13 & 13 (26) putts

As you can see the 5 one pointers and wipe killed me.    I was a little frustrated as the new guy I was scoring for was playing for his second card and he told me his first card score was over 130+ (He told me at the end of the round)   He had the course on some app. on his tablet so each time he went to his ball, out came his tablet and he mapped his ball for later assessment.    This was ok early in the round but as we got further and further behind the group ahead of us I just wanted him to hit and move on.   I probably should have said something but instead sent my playing partners or myself off to the next tee once we'd putted out.  He ended up having about 118 or so but if I get him again.......he'll be told on the first tee.

Anyway the next game is BHIC on Sunday, which I'm looking forward to, as I missed it last year/game.     Hopefully I can put 2 9's together this time??

Played at Beacon Hills yesterday at the BHIC.    Playing off 11 for the day I was hoping a more consistent 2 nines (score wise) but not on your nelly..........

Front 9 - 20 points (no wipes) 15 putts

Back 9 - 13 points (1 wipe) 17 putts  - Too many one pointers again

33 points and 32 putts

7 x FIR

5 x GIR

7 pars or better

Driver was pretty average again but it was fun playing with Gaz, IM and BEEF coming along to caddie.   Unfortunately some of the hills were causing BEEF some difficulty in his drinking....he was puffing so much.   :D

A little disappointed on the finish but I'll take anything over 30 at the moment.    Not sure if I'll get another hit between now and next Monday because we have some very special visitors coming down from Sydney on Friday.    I will be hosting him at Southern next Monday, which should be fun.

Hey, I'm not coming down from Sydney ......... I'm only 20 minutes away, oh, hold on, you're not talking about me, are you? (Either way, I'm looking forward to the hitout at Southern on Monday Frank.)

By the way, does your special guest need to turn up incognito, or has that pesky "statute of limitations" thing run out yet? :D
