Stableford at Riversdale today, against the members in our yearly challenge.   Course had been shortened as hole 2 and 15 were closed for renovation.   Playing off the white tees the rating was 116 so I played off 9.    Shotgun start and we were second group off the par 3 third.

Hole 3 - Par

Hole 4 - Par

....thinking I had found something......

Hole 5 - Wipe after having a couple in the fairway bunkers

Hole 6A - (Shortend par 5 to a par 4 & par 3) Double

Hole 6 B - Birdie

Hole 7 - Wipe

Hole 8 - Bogey

Hole 9 - Par

Hole 1 - At the end of the round (Bogey)

14 points

Back 9

10th - Bogey

11th - Bogey

12th - Par

14thA - (Par 3) - Par

14thB - Par

15th - Bogey

16th - Double

17th - Bogey

18th - Bogey

15 points

Total 29 points and a few too many one pointers from good positions.    Still leaking shots every hole, somewhere.

Oh well....handicap will move a little higher again.

One good thing....one of our guys had a hole-in-one on the 15th (as it is at the moment) and we all got a free drink.     :)

Might do that Gaz.    Start leave next week for 3 weeks so I'm guessing I might get up there before we head off to the National event.

Handicap stayed the same after the average score yesterday.     I do have four flags falling over the next 4 rounds so it could be a sharp climb in the lead up to the Nationals.   I could be playing 2 comp rounds before we head off to NSW (Southern 9th and Woodlands 17th) which are the first two rounds of VPGC Club Championships.   I'll still be in NSW for the final round (Monday 23rd) so I'm not going to compete....other than just play in the daily comp.    If I only play the two games before the Nationals....game 1 & 2 (Sat & Sun) at the Nationals will be golflinked.....just in time to get a few more shots back on BarnEsy for the closing rounds of the Brass Yacht challenge.   It should be interesting.

One good thing about having some time off....I might be able to get to the range on a few days and try and sort out my short game.

Playing at Langy on 30th October.   Don't want to over-do it.

Monday's golf will do me at this stage....don't want to over-do it.  ;)    Might squeeze a game in at Beacy at some stage too, though.

Played at Southern yesterday for the first round of the Club Champs.   As I will still be in NSW for the Nationals I wont be able to play the final round at Cranbourne, so yesterday was just a hit and another chance to work on improving the crap that I have been dealing up.

Comp was stroke (counting putts) and off the back plates so the daily rating was 138.   That gave me a daily cap of 11.   Again I was hitting off the back 9 first (always seem to hit off there when we have a 2 tee start.)

Managed to par the 10th (1 putt)

Bogey 11th after 3 putting FIR & GIR

NTP on 12 (at that stage) and Par GIR

Bogey 13 FIR

Triple bogey on 14 after another 3 putt

Bogey 15 FIR

Par 16 GIR

Par 17 FIR & GIR

Bogey 18

So 43 with 19 putts and both 3 putts were as a result of leaving the first putt too far short

Our back 9....

1st - Bogey FIR

2nd - Bogey

3rd - Par GIR

4th - Double bogey FIR

5th - Triple

6th - Double (3 putt)

7th - Double FIR (3 putt)

8th - Par FIR

9th - Par FIR

So clearly a couple of bad double bogey and a triple that came out of nowhere, when I was in good position.(the triple was a bad drive though)    I need to rectify this if I'm going to play anywhere near my handicap.    I was happy with my chipping though, as I'm using the "putting" chipping style on the tighter lies and normal chipping on better lies.

Oh well....Woodlands next Tuesday will be my last hit before heading up to the Nationals.   Another tough course, when you're not playing well.   Friday might be a casual hit or range session.

I shot up to Beacon Hills this morning and had a "practice round" with GPJ.    I thought it better than hitting the range, as I was hoping to work on my alignment and chipping.    Started off ok with a bogey on the first and pared the second after a GIR.

The 3rd and 4th found me with short approaches and I hit over the back of the green for my 3rd (a NO No) and ended up double bogeying.    Similar thing on 4 where I was just short for 3 and hit a soft chip and ended up doubling that one too.

So I'm still finding ways of wasting shots from good positions.   After the front 9 (I kept score) I decided to stuff keeping track of how bad I was and just play.    I was still experimenting with the chip from using PW 7 GW to using the "putting style" to the conventional.

In the end it was great fun and Gaz was great company.

Next game is Woodlands next Tuesday afternoon and then it's off to NSW.

We seem to be doing very similar things.  Simple shots get duffed, over thinking shots and going too long or short.  In the end generally costing at least one extra stroke per hole for me.  Hopefully the planets align for both of us before Sunday and we get our 'Mojo' back baby.. B)

I managed to get down to the range this morning as Sue's son has been at me for a while to take him.    Killed two birds and basically hit wedges and driver.    Worked on some things from my hit on Friday with Gaz and felt a lot better about my striking.    Time will tell tomorrow at Woodlands??

Well I ventured down to Woodlands today for our second round of the clubbies.   (Not in contention as I will be in NSW when the final round is at Cranbourne, on Monday.  -   Pity as I love Cranbourne GC)

....anyway....perfect conditions and a stroke round off the white plates... and counting putts.   My 9.0 GA adjusted to 10 for the comp and as it was a shotgun start my group was sent a fair way from the clubhouse to start on 12.

No swing of the club and just a few putts saw  bit of a chop fest and double to start.

FIR & GIR on 13 but then 3 putted after leaving it short and thinking I was putting on glass.

FIR & GIR on 14 and then another 3 putt.

15th - Par 5 down wind.......FIR & GIR and one putt for birdie

16th - FIR but bogied it after leaving another putt short

19th - GIR and 2 putt par

18th - FIR & GIR...2 putt par

Front 9 - 42 OTS and another birdie on 4   16 putts

10th - GIR and 2 putt par

111th - Front bunker and skinnied shot through the back.....Managed to get up and down for bogie (Very happy with that)

Back 9 - 41 OTS and 18 putts

I was happy with 9 GIR but 6 FIR was pretty poor.    7 pars or better is promising also.     :)
