So played at Kingston Heath this morning.   Playing off the white tee, handicap adjusted out to 9 and multi tee start.   The 19th hole was in play in place of the 3rd hole.   We hit off on the 2nd hole.   Greens a little slower than expected.

Started off pretty well but I was finding ways of making bogeys or stuffing up holes from good positions.

2nd - FIR/GIR and 3 putt bogey

4th - Bogey - 2 putt

5th - Bogey - 1 putt

6th - FIR/GIR and 2 putt par

7th - FIR/GIR and 2 putt par

8th - Bogey - 2 putt

9th - Duffed drive....etc - wipe........................

1st - Double bogey

19th - GIR - Par

14 points

10th - GIR - 2 putt par

11th - FIR - Double bogey - 2 putt

12th - GIR - 3 putt bogey

13th - Double bogey - wipe

14th - FIR and then lost the second shot - 2 putt - Double Bogey

15th - Bogey - 2 putt

16th - FIR and then chunked 2nd into bunker in front of me - 2 putt - Double Bogey

17th - FIR - 1 putt - par

18th - Wipe after crap fairway bunker shot into trees

10 points

24 for the day and managed to avoid the NAGA again.

Glad it was over in the end as my ankle and back were sore.   Move on....nothing further to see here.

Getting out for a hit at Southern today after missing out last week at short notice. Stableford, probably off the white markers, so not expecting anything great. Somewhere around the handicap will be good. Weather looks like it will behave itself.

Well we ended up playing off the "blue" tees but they weren't all off the back plates.  (Some were behind the back plates though  :o )

Playing off 9 for the day and my usual hit off the 10th tee (playing the back 9 first)

10th - Bogey (after chopping it everywhere but putting in from off the green)

11th - Bogey

12th - Bogey

13th - Bogey

14th - Bogey (are you getting the drift ?)

15th - Par

16th - Double - Wipe with no shot

17th - Double - Wipe with no shot

18th - Double - got a shot so one point

Grand total of 11 points but putted ok with 13 putts -  47 OTS

1st - Double

2nd - Par

3rd - Bogey

4th - Birdie

5th - Bogey

6th - Double

7th - Bogey

8th - Birdie (NTP second shot)

9th - Birdie

19 points with 14 putts - 40 OTS

So 30 points for the day and 27 putts. (some just off the putting surface)   47 OTS    Happy with the come back after a poor start but the short game was very poor.    I'm just not hitting my shorter irons well at the moment and after missing last weeks game, I felt very rusty.     Any way the NTP for 2nd shot and the 3 birdies will bring me back next week at Settlers Run.   ;)    No movement on the handicap but I lose some good flags over the next few weeks so I'm expecting to slide out a bit, soon.

Playing stroke around Settlers Run tomorrow.   It could get pretty ugly if I don't keep the ball in play and start spraying them into the long rough.   I think the weather is going to be pretty good, so hopefully I can get around in the low 80's, as I lose a flag and the start of the slide could be begin.

Well....another disappointing day yesterday at Settlers Run.    I got a text from my opponent in the singles Matchplay handicap wanting to play so I agreed.   He was off 12 so I had to give him 3 shots.....which worked out as the 1st, 3rd and the 18th...as there was no matchplay index on the  card.

It was also stroke off the yellow markers and count putts.   Preferred lies on the fairways

1st - Double (Half)

2nd - Par (Win)

3rd - Par (Win)

4th - Bogey (Half)

5th - Bogey (Win)

6th - Bogey (Loss) Funny situation....my opponent was on the green for reg and I was over the back.  I putted out for bogey and he putted up to about 2 feet for his 3rd.   I conceded the putt and as it was stroke he reached over to putt out and proceeded to 4 putt for a double.....but the hole had been conceded.......That was the start of the rot....

7th - 3 putt double (loss)

8th - Par (Half)

9th - Bogey (Half)

So, one up and 44 off the stick and 18 putts

10th - Bogey (win)

11th - Par (Half)

12th - Bogey (Win) - Now 3 up again

13th - Double (Loss) After duffing the drive into crap and re-loading

14th - Double (Loss) Lost a ball after my playing group saw the second shot land in rough and having the long walk of shame

15th - Double (Loss) after almost losing a ball and taking a penalty

16th - Bogey (Loss) after over hitting a chip for regulation into the back bunker - At this stage I was now one down!!!!!!!!!!

17th - Par (Win)

So all square playing the last and the shot I was hoping I wouldn't have to give him (having already beaten him) came into play.

18th - A Narrow Shute through trees faced our tee shots......   I pulled my drive straight into the right tree so I walk back to my bag to get another ball.   My opponent tees up and hits it into the left tree and has to re-load.   Our provisionals find the fairway for 3.    I had the perfect distance for my hybrid but hit it fat into the left bunker.   He hit his to the front of the green but it rolled back down the fairway to roughly level with my ball.   I hit a great 80 metre sand shot to about 12 feet (5)   He chipped up to 20 feet (5)   He putted up to about 4 feet so I needed to drop my putt for double bogey 6 and for a half (if he dropped his)   My putt was just right for a triple (7)    He dropped his putt for 7 (Nett 6) so game over.

BLOODY disappointed in my back 9

48 off the stick but 15 putts.

92 nett 83 with 33 putts

FIR - 11

GIR - 5

Pars or better - 5

Just too many silly shots on the back 9 as I felt I let him back into it.   He had nett 87 and 99 off the stick....so it wasn't pretty.

One conciliation was  I won a NTP on the 2nd but losing a flag this game will mean a slide of the handicap......in preparation for the Nationals.  :-)

.........and the crap continues...........

Yesterday at Huntingdale for a Stableford round.   Handicap slipped out to 8.1 after last weeks crap so I played off 10 for the comp.   Shotgun start had us hitting off the 16th.

16th - Bogey (2 Points)

17th - Triple (Wipe) 3 putt

18th - Bogey (2 points)

Front 9 - 19 points with no wipes.

At this point I was hopeful of turning the form around.

10th - Bogey (1 point) 3 putt

11th - Double (1 point) 3 putt

12th - Bogey (1 point)

13th - Double (Wipe) 3 putt

14th - Double (1 point)

15th - Double (Wipe) 3 putt

Soooo.....8 points on the back and another 90 odd score.    I felt like I was putting ok but clearly too many 3 putts on the back 9 as the greens definitely started to slow up as the day went on.   Greens were a little better from previous years and since last October when we played there during the Nationals.

No game next week as the boys are heading down to Barwon Heads and 13th beach for a 2 day romp.   Probably a good thing.

A little nervous about what I'm going to dish up tomorrow.  MM at Southern.  Stroke round and counting putts.   Last hit was at Huntingdale, as I missed our game last week at Barown Heads & 13th Beach, to have a little break.   I'm going to try have a casual "lay back attitude" and not expect too much.   I've got to accept what comes and try not to get too angry with myself.

I lose another flag tomorrow so interesting times ahead for the handicap.

Well...my fears eventuated.....Utter shite all day.

Started on the 10th and struck a great drive.....thought today's going to be my day....hit a good hybrid but it caught the front bunker....skinnied the long bunker shot over the green and against the front fence.   Stuff around in the garden and duffed a chip.....8 with one putt.

Anyway not going into it much more but 49 & 53 and I raised the bat for the first time in, I don't know, how long.    Although, I have been getting close over the last few weeks so it had to happen.    I'm just over it at the moment and wondering whether I need to get down to the range....because clearly a game once a week isn't helping.   I think my fall from grace started with a change back to my old clubs.....I'll try the Mizzies next week at Victoria (not a happy hunting ground) and we'll see.

One good thing, I won the raffle for a slab of Melbourne Bitter stubbies, which I'll pick up next week.   B)

I lost a flag off the handicap so expected to go out badly but only a slight move from 8.4 to 8.5.
