A friend of mine just got an email saying that they are having an open day this Sunday the 16th with a free 9 holes and a sausage sizzle.  They must really be getting desperate for members now.

Simulator looks to be similar to the xgolf ones.

If this is good or bad - i guess there will be differing opinions.

How do they intend on getting $20k worth of revenue from it? The novelty with them wears off pretty quick.

Handy for lessons though. At least you can teach in any weather.

It's pretty good, spends on what model they get, I daresay they would have the entry level model at $20k

Reasonably accurate but I wouldn't trust it for a club fitting though

Haven't played there is a while, but can understand losing so many members, especially if they went to Eastern. Hell of a lot better course to play and I'm sure managed much better.

Fulfilling my dream to play Australia's Top 100

AGD 2016 - 100 played

AGD 2014 - 100 played

GA - 2016 - 89 played

GA - 2014 - 94 played

30-40% of Eastern's current membership are ex Yering Meadows members. You can blame them for the waiting list

If there are 2 golf clubs around that don't like each other, it's Eastern and Yering Meadows.

I'm one of those that went to Eastern although many that know me were aware that was the plan to begin with. I haven't played in a while but last time I was at the club, I noticed a lot of ex Yering people. I spoke to one who said he knew of around 40 who had done the same thing. I suspect the actual number is much higher than that as I could probably identify more than that off a weekend timesheet.

Your points are valid though, much more member friendly course and management cannot even be compared unfortunately.

Personally, I think it's a horrible shame Yering is going the way it is, just been a clusterfk of poor decisions from the start. I actually don't mind the courses, yes they're tough, but if conditioning was kept to standard IMO they're still very playable but the condition of the course since winter last year has been absolutely deplorable. When the golfing experience for members becomes so poor, it's inevitable that they look elsewhere. Add to that decisions made re pro, shop & staff etc it's little wonder they're faced with the current predicament.
