It was bloody nice in the surf too. Perfect Autumn day until the southerly smashed its way up the beach. Anyway, back to golf...

Couple of questions if you don't mind answering... ???

What do you mean by right shoulder ext takeaway?

And.

When you say you need to get legs active, what do you mean? Are they just stiff and not moving at all, so all upper body? Or, do you mean hip rotation? Or weight transfer?

How do you know your distances? Rangefinder measure to targets or do you use your own balls and collect them? Do you allow for range ball distance loss?

1. My pro in the last lesson (only lesson for a year or two) was getting me to start the backswing by externally rotating right shoulder. Looking at some pics of pros this looks universal.

2. Probably all of the above, turning the hips mainly I guess. Didn’t have time to get all technical. But yes I think I was getting all stiff and just swinging the arms cos I was thinking about the upper body too much. See 1. above.

3. From the targets and keeping in mind my position relative to the stone. Lost my rangefinder a while back. At Colonial so off the grass and proper balls not range balls.

Ok, I don't understand... What do you mean by "externally rotating right shoulder"?

It’s an anatomical term so very exact. Bend elbow to 90 degrees with your upper arm at your side - like you are holding a tray or plate in front of you. External rotation of the shoulder happens when you keep the upper arm at your side but turn the arm as if you were going to serve someone standing in your right side.
See here http://weighttrainin...ulder-rotation/
What I was doing was more of an internal rotation movement which was combined with the right elbow moving too posterior (behind me ) in the back swing causing a tendency to then come over the top and making me throw the club and lose all lag. I am working on the external rotation and keeping the elbow more anterior.

Thanks.

I'm trying to work out what I do.

Hmmm.

I’m paid up for 4 days of the Nats so squeezes in another range sesh.

Not much change. I think I’ve lost distance if anything. Might have to see my pro again soon. If only there were a quicker fix.

Putting was better.

9 holes tomorrow at Boomerang. Rain forecast. For my first game in many weeks. Fark it. It’s sunny when I’m at work looking out the window then forecasts rain when I have an arvo of golf planned. Stupid world. Might be sunny though. Keen to see if there is actually a change on course.

So what's our challenge Toph?

Let me think.
Can’t be handicap reached because I don’t have the time for comps.
Maybe something at the Nationals. I’m playing 4 days.
What’s your cap? And what do you think it “should” be?

Thank for invite!

Madam I am free most Friday afternoons now. It’s my new religion. Would love to have a game with you if you can bear to watch as I chop it up. Thinking of joining Boomerang but happy to play anywhere on the coast. Usually get out of gaol at about 11am. 9 or 18, comp or social, I don’t care. This goes for any other Gold Coasters on here too.
