The way people crap on about Day you would think he was heading to the World Golf Hall of Fame in the future, but the fact remains that he has had just one victory on the PGA Tour.

That one victory was the 2010 Byron Nelson, which is hardly known for having the strongest field going around.

Sure he was won over $13million, but he has only saluted once. Just to put that into perspective;

  • Robert Allenby has won 4 times on the PGA Tour.
  • Mark Hensby has as many wins as Day.

Day has;

  • 1 victory
  • 5 runner up finishes
  • 3 third place finishes
  • 30 top tens

And people call Greg Norman a choker. Day's figures suggest that he may well be one too.

I say that he is overrated. What say ISG?

He's 25, about to turn 26 FFS. Go and find a hobby because you are far too bored!

So you talk down his win

Shouldn't you talk up his seconds and thirds? Masters. Open. Not bad performances.

He's about #12 in the world at the moment.

Nah, I think he's appropriately rated as a likely future major winner and top 10 player. If he keeps going the way he has been to date.

I know! You're thinking that the seconds and thirds prove your point about being a choker. Maybe he'll be a choker like Phil.

Or Jack who has more seconds in majors than anyone from memory.

Interesting comparing him to Robert. Their careers are at such similar places in their life cycles.

I see nothing wrong with the question.

There was quite a deal of hype surrounding J Day early in his career (not entirely his fault though he did participate) and saying that he was overrated by those that did the hyping is not purely a slight on him as a player.

I see it more of a indication of how players get built up in the media to where expectations are high and if those expectation are not met then questions are asked. Again that is not a slight on the player personally;  perhaps it just goes with territory when you allow your manager (promoter etc) to build you up too much too early.

Badds.com is probably a better example :)

The first question to be answered is of course how is he rated!

Then we can discuss if he's overrated.

Abbott must rate him extremely highly to suggest he has overrated him.

I think he's rated a likely future major winner and multiple PGA winner and regular world top 10 ranker.
