on 16 did you contemplate laying up then thinking better of it and going with 3 wood and making it?? :P

Nice work, not surprised the fairways are back in shape after the good weather we have had. The fairways were looking good when we played a couple of weeks ago so would be almost schmick now.

It was more...do I bunt driver at it...but I thought, slight southerly, the 3w might be enough if I get it. Which I did.

I don't lay up on par 3s. Not on purpose, anyway :)

We can catch up Pete. We're staying in Yarrawonga at Burkes.

Definitely

Dinner at the RSL?

Or the pub across the road from Burke's......

We go to the "white pub" quite regularly when we are up there.   It's opposite the post office.   Food is good there.

31 annoying points at the Frog today...annoying mostly because of the finish. Had 18 points on the front, and finished the back 1 point (14), 1 point, 2 points, 2 points...after having a 10 foot putt for birdie...and 3 stabbing...and then wipe.

Wedges were the highlight today...a few crackers on...5 with a downhill lie in the bunker that I not only got out, but managed to keep on the green, a 50m shot over the left bunker on 6 to a back pin to 4 feet, the best being a shot from above the right greenside bunker on 9 to about 4 feet for an up and down par.

That's the last game before the Nationals road trip on Thursday.

You guys should enjoy Black Bull.  Played it on the way down last year and nicely layed out.  An extra 12 months for the trees and rough to define the fairways should make it even more enjoyable.  Mr Steady Pants Kiwi should find it interesting plotting his way around.

Change of plan Commish...we're playing Yarra instead.

The midget needs a comp to try to blow that handicap out for Nats...no comp at Black Bull...

So let's try to describe the events of the last week as best I can.

Arrived at Muzz's place around 8am on Thursday. Already had contact with my cousin in Yarrawonga...that trip was off...too much rain, so plan B was put into effect. I'd made some enquiries the previous day, and we settled on Canberra as our destination, and what was to eventually become the mission to #getyarnietoyowani.

After a chipping contest on Thursday night, dinner at the course where we were also staying, and a fairly quiet evening. Rain overnight was evident, but by Friday morning, all was well. We hit the course around 7.45am. And what a beautiful golf course it was. Tree-lined, pine trees, very picturesque. We all thought it could make a very good Nationals venue for the future. 34 points there, where I played reasonably well...finished on top of the small (10 person) comp. Muzz =3rd with 33 I think...Bully managed top 10. Lunch and then onto BK's place, via the place I was sharing with Madam that night.

And the drive into Sydney....how do you people do it?

We thought we'd arrived at the address Mike gave me...however, it looked like it was attached to the local church...and as it turned out, we were around 15 minutes away from the correct address. And what a hovel this joint was.

In vast contract to BK's place...wow. Got to meet Maxxon for the first time...meh... Dr.Inky was poleaxed by the time we got there...and amusing if not a little annoying. At least to Muzz. It was a great night, thanks again Phil.

RO on Saturday...with Yarnie, Nathan and Blacksnake. Highlight golf-wise for me was my shot into 11a to about 3 feet. Lowlight was missing the putt. Lower again when Mouldy in the next group put his shot to about 2 feet. 34 points with a wipe on the last, but mostly solid.

The dinner...well, it was almost an anti-climax after the BBQ the night before, but I think the 4bbb draw is always a part that everyone looks forward to. It's a shame Mick's name came out of the hat so early...although it was pretty funny to see Peaksy's reaction when he thought he'd drawn him. All of the Nathans...fantastic.

RO on Sunday...minted the first drive off 1, and the approach to about 15 feet...missed the birdie putt by inches and tapped in for par. And that is the only golf I will speak of on that day. 25 points of unadulterated shite. Played with Mike and his colleague Tim...they played ok.

Off to Randwick accommodation on the Sunday night, and to Coogee for dinner with around 10 of the crew. Brazilian BBQ...all you can eat. I thought they took one look at Sandy and I and were considering closing up.

NSW on Monday. WOW. Nothing in Melbourne that compares to that. Highlighted by the birdie on the downhill par 5 5th. 33 points, unhappily wiping the 18th after finishing in one of the greenside bunkers...then into another...than out, but no point save. Magic day with Madam, Left is Dead and Schmuck.

The Lakes on Tuesday...31 points including 18 on the first 9 (back 9) including a run of pars from 13-15 which were all pretty handy. Including a 2 putt from at least 60 feet for par on the 14th where you hit over the lake to what I thought was a fairway on the peninsula next to the green. Turns out...it was ALL green. Great playing with Wozz, 2Putts and Commish, my cart buddy for the day. He and I were good cart partners...we hit the ball about the same length. And he had Furphies in the cart...a shame I was driving that day.

Finally the run home on Wednesday with co-pilot Bully. We left Sydney around 5.30, arriving back at Muzz's place around 3.45pm.

Great week. Great group.

Let's do it again next year.
