Yeah, it amazes me how they always need to go back to improve it post opening.

It's either the original design that was rubbish and didn't take into consideration the amount or location of water they'd have to shift .......... or the club post design, but pre build, decides to save on $$ outlay for something they are never going to see, and trims back on the drainage to save coin.

Like "soil works" for new houses, drain works can be expensive for something that you're never going to notice in the end product.

Either way, it's a pain in the butt with wet soggy courses, that could have be done correctly the first time.

Yep or only building two lanes on the Monash Fwy when they extended it from Sth Gippy Hwy and now have to build a couple more lanes.   I think it's a money "saving" thing but in the end...a waste of time

Or the ring rd.... has there ever been a time when there hasn't been roadworks on it since it opened?

Im waiting for Pen Link\Frankston Bypass to become that being they only made it 2 lanes the whole way

No joining fee but there is a waiting list at the moment I believe. It will no doubt open again at the end of the financial year like it did last year.

I can speak to the GM or put him in touch directly if he wants the specifics.

I'd be happy to have him for a game if he wants one too.

Thanks Itchy - I will let him know.

I wonder about these new courses that get built (i.e Eastern) and then 12 months later they are digging up the fairways and putting in drainage. Clearly that should be done as they build it. Just my opinion.

Pete
The major pits of the drainage were done at the time of building.

They lined up normal minimal surface drainage at the same time.

But without actual knowledge of were the drainage was really needed, it was deemed smarter to wait for a wet season, then drain as req'd.

They did a little bit last year, and then did a shittonne this year.

As of Tuesday, this year is a win for me

Had a big golf day...without playing golf.

Went for a walk around the Frog with The Chad, Ink and Mouldy this morning. Preferred lies on the fairway, bunkers declared out of play.

First of all...the fairways were mostly mint. A few wet patches mostly on the edges, but generally speaking, very good. Bunkers...well most of them could have been in play, but they decided all would be out, probably unnecessarily. Greens were mostly ok, still sandy in parts, but much better than last week.

The golf...a little indifferent in parts...and my word, it's easy to criticise others when you're not actually playing. Consider me Roving Johnny Miller...the game is never easier than when you're not playing.

Apart from the 3 guys I walked around with, caught up with Muzz and Benny afterwards, who were both on the range.

Borrowed a HOF shaft from Ink for the Alpha 815; it went straight into the driver when I got home as the next stage of this experiment. Whenever I get to play next.

Off to tell the pennant players what they're doing wrong tomorrow. GO RJM!
