Had a session at the range with the MP18s this morning. Very little margin for error with these. Your swing needs to be on song; anything not out of the middle is certainly felt. Ball flight from centre strikes is so penetrating - the ball really jumps off the face. I’m a little guilty of letting my ambitions run away with my capabilities with these, but they’re such a beautiful iron!

Chevy, what shafts are in the Mizuno's ? A helpful shaft might offset the bladed heads !

Jon they’ve got PX LZ 5.5 shafts. Nice shafts, but I prefer the Nippon shafts I have in my MP-H4s. I’ll more than likely put Nippon in the MP18s.

How did the shafts feel\respond?

I'm a Project X player and the LZ shafts have intrigued me but not sure if they would suit.

I’ve got the LZs in 5.5 in the MP18s. They feel similar in stiffness to my NS Pro 950GH in stiff; however they’re heavier than the Nippons. In my opinion, the Nippons feel much ‘smoother’.

I have NS Pro 950GH in my MP54's, a golfing buddy of mine reckons they are ladies shafts. I told him he was a ladies shaft.

Your buddy hasn’t got a clue unfortunately. Get him to have a crack with these in X flex then you’ll see who the lady is. They are a fantastic shaft. They are still popular among pros, however the Modus 3 seem to be the shaft of choice these days.

After reviewing drivers and being fitted for shafts etc then demo rounds on course I have today ordered the new mizuno st180 driver 8.5 degree driver, truely am a convert and next fitting maybe for 3 wood.

This was proven on track man as more consistent then the new titty and tm drivers and slightly longer (less than 5m on average).

Gotta say off the club face it is the worst sounding golf club I have every hit in my life. Not sure why this is.

The average hits are going 235-240, solid contact 245-255. When it was smoked 290m my best today, and 2-3 were 265-270.

Overall an easy 20-30m longer than my current titty 915f driver.

Or PXG for that matter. Know a bloke who sold his Miuras to buy PXG. As the old saying goes - more money than sense.
