Pennant match at Sandy today.
Two freaken hours to get there and another two hours to get home.

On to the match. I had to give away 8 strokes - that's every even numbered hole except 18. All too often, if we halved a hole, he still won it. He wore me down to -4, but I managed to get that back to -1 after 16. Then we both buggered the 17th hole, but I did a better job of it than he did. So, that's a 2&1 loss.

Our team of 6 had to give away a total of 40 strokes, on their home track.

At least you were the best non winner for your team

We just need bigger handicaps.
The drive to lower one's handicap has knobs on it.

This fairly typical of a Maxx comment.  Guys like that are always rude and obnoxious.  You meet them in pubs, too.  Always have something to say, but not really contributing to the overall conversation.  Yes, on odd occasions, they're funny, but usually barely raise a groan.

All part of the community, whether online, in the pub or at the club.  You don't have to associate closely with them, even though you can hear them.

Not the sort of person I'd choose to have a beer with, but that's not to say that others feel the same.

We are all different, with different viewpoints and tastes.  If you choose not to converse with some other individuals, you don't have to.

In a written forum like this, it can be hard to know the difference between a harmless sledge and a cutting insult.  Often, the only difference is in how the recipient takes it.  Like so many others, I've had a few adverse reactions to comments I've made when I didn't intend to be hurtful.  That also applies when we gang up on somebody.

So, I try and apply a filter to what I say: if I wouldn't say it to your face while we're having a drink, perhaps I shouldn't say it at all.  That filter may get a rose tint at times, depending on how many drinks I've had, but I try and remain sensible.

So Max, if I don't respond to your comments, it's just because I'm ignoring you because I think you're an arsehole.

Played Joondalup last Friday for the first time. I reckon I have wanted to play there for 20 years since I first heard about this golf course in an old quarry.

Anyway hired the clubs and found they weren't to my liking - couldn't hit the driver (Callaway XR16) at all. Anyway managed to play a few good shots and have some fun 16 points on the Quarry nine some real good fun holes like 4, 5 and 6 where you get to take on the quarry as much as you are game. I had the first public booking slot so thought I should race around but got caught up with some other groups. which made it frustrating (especially since I had to be back at Fremantle for work by 10.30).

Played much better on the Dunes nine. Would be a tough walk called dunes for a reason. Couple of three jabs and a 4 jab (greens are huge compared to what I'm used to) in 18 points with a double, double finish.

So 34 points all up not bad given I couldn't get off the tee and had a few issues with the flat stick.
