Got out for 9 around Northcote before work this morning Was playing putrid until the Par 3 6th.
Mucked around with my grip hit a high wedge into it and while in the air was thinking "that's pretty straight how's the length" it landed 3 metres past the hole and spun straight back in.
My second hole in one in 30 years, howver, both in practice rounds think I will have to wait another 15 years to get one in a comp.
Followed it up with a 2 putt birdie on the 7th (shortest par 4 in history) and missed shortish birdie putts on 8 and 9 to be 3 under for the last 4 - certainly helps the score.
If only I could rember how I altered my grip

Wow - good stuff
Thanks. Ball striking was on song. Almost an out of body experience. Hit 4 over on the front nine. Then got a bit wobbly on 10 - 14. Then put the foot down to par 3 of the last 4 including the last two in regulation. I should've been swabbed.

Beat round ever off the stick?
Yep. By far. The practice is working. Work on the mental game is working. It's all starting to click. At this rate, one day I might even become a "playa" like all of the cool kids.
Footnote: In a "believe it or not" anecdote, two weeks ago I won a 9 hole comp at my club (21 points) but my handicap went out by one. Golflink paired it with a 9 hole comp that I played in 2016 in which I played like a dog (3 points). You can't make that stuff up.
