No carts allowed at Warra today so I went down to Lang Lang.

A wipe or two on each side, too many 1-point holes and very few 3-points.

13 out, 13 back for 26 total.

Only around four 1-putts but two 3-putts to kill the spirit.

The course was 99% dry, greens were fairly slick except near the holes where they had become lumpy. Not many out there and we got around in 3 hours.

Too cold for carts?

Too cold for carts?

No, too wet after overnight rain.

Too cold yesterday. They wouldn't let us play until 9:00am, waiting for the frost to melt.

Stab at Warra today.

Outward nine had two 2-point, three 1-point and four 3-point, to turn on 19.

Back nine had two 3-point and the other seven were 2-point holes, for 20 points.

So, the front nine were all over the shop while the back was consistency plus.

To add confusion, I had four 3-putts and only three 1-putts: 37 bloody putts!

When I checked a few minutes ago, my 39 was coming 2nd with only a few cards still to come in.

4bbb stableford at Royal Melbourne West today.
Now that is a course that can do you head in.
First hole(8) hit a nice little fade off the left bunker into the middle and had 147 pin with 5 behind, pured a 6 iron and was licking my chops, rear bunker to wipe.
Creamed another drive on 9 and had 160 in up hill into a breeze. Hit a good 5 that's clipped a stake on the green and bounced off.
Rest of the day was interesting getting distances with irons that I didn't know existed for me. Had about 8 birdie looks from inside 15-30 feet and managed to 3 jab 5 off them like a moron.
Ended up shooting 91 which i didn't really mind.
We ended up coming in runners up by one and got a $150 voucher each for our day there.
Bloody lovely.

"Par Plus" at Warra yesterday.  For those unfamiliar with this, it just means that you can get double-plus for a '4 pointer'. Apparently, it makes some people feel better.

My front nine was mostly crap - four halves and five nots.

Although all those misses would have been 1-point holes for 13 points, the actual score of -5 wasn't much chop at all. Or perhaps it was all chop(per).

Two 3-putts and only two 1-putts didn't help

Back nine was a it better, even though I started it with another minus.

I somehow managed to screw out 4 pluses to have a +1 for that half.

Five 1-putts and no 3-putts did help.

Overall, -4

Came in 60th out of 85.

Stab at Warra today.

Front nine was a bit rough with some 1-points and a wipe on my no-shot hole.

Two 3-putts and only two 1-putts.

14 points

Back nine was going better with 2 points on every hole until a 3-point on the 14th.

I then wiped 15 & 16, 1 point on 17 and closed out with a 3-point on 18.

No 3-putts, three 1-putts.

15 points

Total 29 points.

Couldn't have been tough out there, two 44s are winning, small field.

Old farts' nine hole at Warra this morning.

It must have done me some good having the weekend off from golf.

Five 3-point holes, nothing less than 2.  Also five 1-putts, nothing more than 2.

23 points won the day for me.  Small field, most have shot through to Qld for the winter.

They do dodgy handicapping - if you have less than 18 points you go out a stroke for next time.  If you have better than 18, your 'cap comes in by as many as you were over 18.  I'd gone out to 22, so I've now dropped back (to 'normal') by 5 shots to 17.  The index 18 hole is on the other nine, so I've lost 2 strokes.  I had extra shots today on 13 (index 1) and 17 (index 3), so they're now gone until I earn them back with crap scores.

Because of the small field, all I won was two cheap balls.

We were talking in another thread about no matter how badly you play, you can always do worse the next.

Well, that was a good half round above, but today was a different kettle of fish.

Stab at Morwell with the Vets.

Front nine had quite a few 1-points, some 2-points and a wipe or two.  Total 10 points.

Back nine showed a bit more promise.  Got to the 11th (a par 3), on for 1, just missed the putt, in for a par.  Playing off 17, that was the index 18 hole, so just 2 points.

Two 1-points, four 2-points and the rest were wipes.  Total was another 10 points.

So, 18 holes, 20 points, compared to yesterday's 23 points for 9 holes.  Chalk and cheese.

Can't blame the course.  Despite last night's rain, there were only a few soggy spots and all the greens were excellent.

18 on the front, going nicely.

9 on the back, not nicely

Conditions were very similar to Nationals at St Andrews Beach
