Old farts' nine hole at Warra this morning.
It must have done me some good having the weekend off from golf.
Five 3-point holes, nothing less than 2. Also five 1-putts, nothing more than 2.
23 points won the day for me. Small field, most have shot through to Qld for the winter.
They do dodgy handicapping - if you have less than 18 points you go out a stroke for next time. If you have better than 18, your 'cap comes in by as many as you were over 18. I'd gone out to 22, so I've now dropped back (to 'normal') by 5 shots to 17. The index 18 hole is on the other nine, so I've lost 2 strokes. I had extra shots today on 13 (index 1) and 17 (index 3), so they're now gone until I earn them back with crap scores.
Because of the small field, all I won was two cheap balls.
We were talking in another thread about no matter how badly you play, you can always do worse the next.
Well, that was a good half round above, but today was a different kettle of fish.
Stab at Morwell with the Vets.
Front nine had quite a few 1-points, some 2-points and a wipe or two. Total 10 points.
Back nine showed a bit more promise. Got to the 11th (a par 3), on for 1, just missed the putt, in for a par. Playing off 17, that was the index 18 hole, so just 2 points.
Two 1-points, four 2-points and the rest were wipes. Total was another 10 points.
So, 18 holes, 20 points, compared to yesterday's 23 points for 9 holes. Chalk and cheese.
Can't blame the course. Despite last night's rain, there were only a few soggy spots and all the greens were excellent.
