Quick look back at my chipping and pitching yesterday

9 8i chip pretty much landed where I intended but only ran about how far it carried - somehow stopped very fast - but I hit it well
10 8i chip ran way past the flag - again landed about where I planned so ok
18 5i chip was a bit thin and short but not too bad
1 LW chip over the bunker lacked authority and carried but popped up and rolled back in. LW from the very wet firm bunker was too soft but I was happy to get out
3 8i chip ran past but again was struck how I wanted - just need to get better at reading the run
7 LW from a downhill lie in the bunker got out and to 20ft and I was happy about that given I had the whole bunker to carry and dead behind the pin
8 push off the tee left me metres below the surface of the par 3 green and my 8i chip was a bit aggressive but long was better so no complaints
9 LW pitch from 55m or so was thin anc gone over the back of the green. No backswing so just a 5i chip to advance my position then 8i chip over the path up a hill and across the green was best I could do

Looking back the LW on the last hole was the onky disaster but didn't get up and down with anything but putter. Not too bad but plenty of improvement required. And at some point I will need to move to chipping with a wedge to give myself chances to finish close because I am having to land short of the green with the 8i and that's tough to judge.

My putter was way worse than my chipping Sunday and I'm gunna put my mallet back in the bag for a while to sed if that helps.

Windaroo today for the challenge round against Brisbane City Council and my opponent had a bad front nine and I had him 5 and 4

I had 16 and 19 points for a decent but frustrating 35 with a very poor wipe bogie 2 double bogie 1 finish after starting the back nine very well

2 birdie 7 pars 6 bogies 3 doubles and a wipe

3/14 fairways and the driver was off a bit today and cost me with an OOB slice on 2, a push into the trees on 8 and a hook wet on 16

7 GIR was pretty decent but dropped 2 shots with irons with a pushed 7i wet off the tee on 6 and a hooked 5i into trees behind the bunkers on 18, and 3 shots with wedges with pushes on 3 and 8 and a wet gap wedge on 16 (which looked good but ended up short)

4/11 up and downs but only gave myself 3 dropped shots as the rest were after leaving myself in unlikely spots to get up and down

33 putts and 2 dropped from 3 putts including 2 bad pulls in a row on 17

Overall it wasn’t too bad to play to 14 but not where I want to be

Forgot to put in last week’s round at Gatton -26 points

And that’s all I will say about that round!

Today with SEQ had 32 points - 17 and 15 - at North Lakes which was 90 off the stick. DSR was 73 with only 1 person breaking 36 points so flagged at 14.1 dropping me to 12.1

8 pars 4 bogies 4 doubles 2 triples

10/14 fairways - driver was pretty good until the last hole where a huge push saw me having to hit out of the trees after a drop and cost me 2 shots. Also dropped a shot on 11 from a push that found water. Got lucky with a hook on 16 that bounced out of the trees.

4 GIR and 6 others I was hitting putter from just off in regulation. A bit disappointing after finding so many fairways to hit so many poor to average shots into greens. Definitely cost me a lot on the scoreboard. Irons cost me 2 shots - a fat 9i into hazard and a pushed 8i into a bad spot. Wedges cost me 3 - a LW over into the hazard on 2 and a wet fat gap wedge on 4. Could have been a good score if I’d been better with the full shots not off the tee.

4/13 up and down - considering how many were Texas wedges that wasn’t a great result and all my ups and downs were from putting from off. Not terrible - certainly didn’t hit any shockers - but not good enough.

33 putts - including 1 3 putt and many good putts that didn’t find the cup. Not a great result and missed some makeable ones but on NL greens it’s not too bad. Happy with the return to the TM Corza.

Overall not too bad at NL which is a challenging course. Finished 4 of 16 with the best countback of 3 players on 32. Heading in the right direction but need to tidy up the approach shots.

Club Championships at Caboolture today - stroke was meant to be off the blue but the club didn’t put them out (although they told us they had and they were on 1 and 10 to fool us)

3 pars 9 bogies 3 doubles 1 triple 2 quads

5/13 fairways - quite a few other just off or rolled off or through. But an OOB and almost followed it on 13 cost me 3 shots and a topped hybrid off 7 cost me too.

4 GIR - was just a bit all over the place but had another 9 that’s were around about the green. Dropped a shot from a badly pushed 5i on 12, fat LW on 10, pulled AW on 17 and a fat weak pitch on 3.

0/12 up and downs - just did not have the speed on the greens all day - long at the start and short at the end was the general pattern. Really **** performance. 11 dropped shots here.

38 putts - 3 3 putts and didn’t drop a decent putt all day. A couple of close calls but overall I was just in all sorts around the green.

Also dropped 2 shots after picking up a ball from 3 inches short of the hole - forgot it was stroke - doh.

Overall I was pretty average with the full swing and pitches - dropping 10 strokes - but was terrible around the greens.

I truly believe that is a piss poor attitude not to put the blue markers out for a social club. I have been informed that the hole locations were setup for the clubs MM the previous day. I feel real bad that the course wasn’t presented in a manner that should have made you day so much better. I truly believe that this was the reason for your poor performance today Weeti, and for that I publicly apologise.

Definitely not the reason for my play mate - that's on me. Was distracting for a few holes trying to tell as ma y as we could and agree on what to do.

Disappointment was that we were told on the morning that they were out. Would have been fine if they said thry weren't - at least we'd have known.

But I enjoy the course - really look forward to the irrigation getting the fairways schmick.
