Your neighbours glass door looks in danger

Pretty safe unless I decide to try some lob shots and shank them from the pool end

My windows are much more in danger

that will be perfect for that week it gets cold enough for a fire.

It’s a prehistoric comfsort thing Bump - not so much about sitting close to it as staring into it

Although there’s plenty of time from May to August where the nights are easily cold enough

So, how's the chipping area alignment with the fire pit?

Could you, for instance, use the fire pit as the landing area for longer chips or short pitches?

In other design aspects, have you considered where or how you will dispose of the charcoal from a nights fire. Now, before you all go jumping to the simple conclusions of either putting them into a green waste bin, or leaving them in the fire pit until next time, let me address flaws with each:

Wheelie bins, green waste bins, are a lot higher than a fire pit, so you have to either lift the pit up and tip the ash into the bin, or use a shovel method and move a bit at a time. Either way, there is a lot of loose ash to fly around and you'll more than likely end up getting covered in the stuff.

The old 'leave it until next time' is fine until it gets wet, when lighting the next fire will cause no end of grief with either a poor burning fire and / or a LOT of smoke.

So, the simple solution?

Design a spot in the garden with close and easy access to the fire pit area. The morning after a fire, just go out and dig a hole in the garden, remembering to pull back an area of your mulch first, and then simply tip the ash into the hole and cover up with soil and the mulch. That way your fire pit is left nice and clean for you to chip into or land flop lob wedge shots into withing having to dig your golf ball out of the ash.

The corner of the house takes chipping to the fire pit out of the equation

I can chip into the pool though if I want to practice longer chips

I’ll keep the ash advice in mind - we are going for a small fire pit which means we won’t have a lot of ash to clean - as bump indicated you don’t need a roaring fire so much up here

Small amount of ash...

Hahahaha, you're in for a shock.

It's not the amount, it's the type. The big charcoal type bits left over are easy, and there is usually more of them in bigger fire pits as you use bigger chunks of timber to fuel the fire... it's the super fine ash that goes EVERYWHERE as soon as you disturb it.

What size fire pit are you getting? Or have you already bought one?

EDIT: So, it's going to be chipping n putting green, fire pit and pool. Sounds like a resort. And, it's not on the agenda for Nationals?

It’s only a couple of feet across

It will be a bit far from the events for a Nationals shindig

Like a brazier fire pit thing from Bunnings? One with the flat plate and 3 legs?

Or, more of a solid bowl on legs?

As for Nationals, I see a detour on the way to or from kooralbyn. What could possibly go wrong with a bunch of alcohol infused golfers testing your resort facilities?

That would be some detour from Ocean Shores!

Yeah a small bowl on a base from Bunnings. It was nice and cheap and we can upgrade later once we determine how we use it.

I recall ocean shores got vetoed, so everyone will be just that much closer to enjoy chateau weeti resort.

Is the pool swim wear optional?

What about the chipping n putting area, is there a dress code?

As for your fire pit, is it one of the fancy ones with a mesh cover to go over the flames?
