I think the loft and bounce options around specialty wedges really do give them the advantage over stock wedges.

If they fit nicely below your stock PW carry numbers that's great, and if they don't you generally have the option of adjustment of loft to make them fit.

For me based on carry average only:

LW - 60 degrees - 60 meters

SW - 56 degrees - 72 meters

AW - 52 degrees - 85 meters

PW - 47 degrees - 102 meters

Then 3/4 and 1/2 shots with each club cover < 60meter shots at most ranges.

Always thinking about potential better combinations, and I could get a degree adjusted to space them out fractionally more but in the end the main goal is to have confidence in the selection of club so we can focus more on the quality of shot/contact and less on "do I have the right club for the shot"

Whether you think you can, or think you cannot, either way you're probably right...

Thats the right way to look at it i think. If you used your gw or pw for short game shots it would be probably better to have specialty wedges, but if you only use them for full shots like your irons its probably better to have them the same as your irons.

I do use them for short game shots but only chip and run type shots - and I use 8, 5 and even 4 hybrid for those too. I'd rarely use them from the sand unless I'm 30m short of the green. And unlike Seve I'm not lobbing a PW ever! :)

Currently my sand wedge is one with an extended flange to make it easier to get the ball out. It's an early TM version of the wedges that are coming out all over the place now.

My lob is a low bounce club I use for getting out of hard bunkers and pitching.

But the different shafts and off the shelf lie angles are something I need to get sorted out from a consistency of feel perspective.

So rather than go with the wedges from your iron set down to SW or even lower you went up with your wedges all the way to PW- interesting

I must admit I don't think of my PW and GW in the same way I do my SW and LW. To me they are use the same as my irons. Whereas the sand and lob are more short game specific. Not that I don't make full swings with them but I don't expect them to follow the pattern of my irons and wedges from a shot making perspective. Luckily the sand wedge gaps to my gap wedge fine but it wouldn't worry me if it didn't.

I was the same when I was using the one from my set.  I just used it as another iron.  But when we looked it trying to better manage my gapping for full shots and to introduce versatility for short game shots, we decided to go with a full set of matched wedges (I carry four).  I never used to use my g20 pitching wedge for anything less than a full shot, but I use my 46 degree much more often for non full shots around the green.

Carry PW then 54 and 60.

PW for anything down to 30m (Full\half\1/4).

54 is for when I need to get the ball up and stop. IE over a bunker or hazard or such short of green where I cant bump and run a pw\9\8. The occasional 75mish full swing, long bunker shot, long flop shot out of rough over bunker etc.

60 is for chipping in and around green and bunkers and flop shot as above.

I find I am much more in control of my game now from 80m in as a result. Less indecision, less control issues, less doubt etc.

...

SW - 56 degrees - 72 meters
AW - 52 degrees - 85 meters
PW - 47 degrees - 102 meters

Then 3/4 and 1/2 shots with each club cover < 60meter shots ..."

That's basically my set up too ans similar distances.

My use of them is more like SPM:

...

PW for anything down to 30m (Full\half\1/4).

... 52 / 56 is for when I need to get the ball up and stop. IE over a bunker or hazard or such short of green where I cant bump and run a pw\52\8. The occasional 75mish full swing, long bunker shot, long flop shot out of rough over bunker etc.

60 is for chipping in and around green and bunkers and flop shot as above...

I'm finding the 52 more consistent and accurate for the chip n run shots, now that I've worked out the flight n roll of it...

56 / 60 give me options for bunkers. Less loft for longer shots.

52, 56 & 60 are SM6 Vokey.

PW in set is 43*, so really a 9

The W in set is 47*, so more a PW

Only thing is it makes me look like I'm a tosser carrying 5 wedges in my bag!

Pretty rare to find an iron set that goes all the way to sand wedge

True
That's why some players may have a specific brand of wedges that differs from their irons.
