Probably a "size" issue might help.   The "wonder" doesn't have any grey in it ...yet.   ;)

Best golfing memory - A relaxed 9 holes with my dearly departed mum acting as my caddy a few years ago now ...... up at a little course at Tevan in NSW. No matter how bad my shots were, she always said "nice shot".

Just flicking through this thread and saw a reference to this, went back n found it...

Cool.

Tevan a nice course.

Hi all, have been lurking for a while but thought I should get involved.

I didn't play golf when I was young, I played cricket all my life, swimming, baseball, basketball etc.

I'd had a few hits here and there but about 5 years ago decided to have a go at getting half decent at it. Spent about a year seeing a coach once a month, sometimes twice, but we only ever worked on the full swing and he kept completely changing things and we didn't get very far. Got frustrated and quit.

A couple of mates have started playing over the past 6 months and I got back into it. Joined Marrickville which is a basic course but right near my home and has a short practice hole. Have been playing 9 holes once a week before work and a full game about once a month, sometimes twice.

I really want to improve but it's not really happening (I'm just watching Youtube vids and guessing my way around) so have booked in with Glenn Whittle this week. I'm hoping to find a coach that will help me with what type of practice and how much I should be doing, along with his or her tutelage, to improve.

Name: Mike
Height: 176cm
Weight: 85 but like a yoyo

Location: Sydney
Years Playing: Only a couple
Righty or Lefty?: Right
Home Course: Marrickville
What’s in the Bag?: Mostly second hand stuff, Cobra Amp irons, Cleveland wedges, Callaway Optiforce driver + 3 and 5 wood, about 4 different putters

Highest / lowest / current handicaps: I've only done 2 of my 3 initial handicap games but I'd be around 24 I think
Handicap Goal for 2018: I would like to by under 17 by the end of the year
Strengths: Full iron shots aren't too bad at the moment but that could change at the tick of a clock
Weaknesses: Off the tee is killing me at the moment, lots of slice and the occasional push
Your Typical Pre-Round Routine: I like to be at the course early with a coffee to do some putting
Your Golf Attire (usually): Shorts and polo, usually too tight around the middle
Your Usual Ballflight: Pretty high
Have You Played Competitively?: Not at this point

Pick The Ball Cleanly, or Divot?: Clean, but would like to divot like the pros
Blades or Cavity Backs?: Cavity
Links or Tree Lined?: Trees, I like the feeling of being in the bush but with added frustration
Range Rat or Gain Experience By Playing?: Rarely go to the range but that might have to change
What Time of Day Do You Prefer Playing? Sunday
Do You Get First Tee Jitters?: Yes but mostly with strangers
Your Overused Golf Sayings: WTF?
Quiet Player or Loud?: Quiet
Walk or Golf Cart?: Both, usually walk when it's me or me and another but with mates like a cart
Favourite Golf Quotes:
Best score for 9 holes: 8 over at Marrickville which is an easy course
Best score for 18 holes: 23 over at Marrickville which again is an easy course
Best golfing memory: Playing in the Philippines with a mate with our own personal caddies. Felt like a superstar ha.

Welcome to the forum Mike.

Crazy bunch. Lots of inside jokes, fair few have met IRL.

Odd useful swing or golf technique idea pops up, or can be found in old comments, threads.

Check out the journal journey threads in playing the game.
